Brent Venables: No players are standing out, but recipe for success hasn't changed

Brent Venables isn’t big on praise during the early part of any camp, especially with so many young players trying to find their way after the departure of several key players. Tuesday was no exception. Full Story »

He might not comment on names until the last week or so of camp. He wants them to earn it by proving themselves.

Sounding rough. Gotta be hard going from last years veteran led team to being this young. But if anyone can do it, it is Venables.

Also, why throw out glowing reviews now? They've only been at it for a few days. We'll all see who's standing out in a little over three weeks.

Understood what y’all are saying about not calling out names but he did call out a bunch of names as leaders on defense....

I really thought XT would at a minimum be called out as a leader and DH ain’t asking about him. Obviously a lot of truth to the newspaper article.

If he’s going through personal issues, that’s life and I don’t want to hear about it....

If it’s something else or thinking about that nasty “portal” word, I’d like to know that.

XT isn't thinking about the portal... Quit listening to delusional coots. BV is just doing what he does every year to get the best out of his guys... He did the same thing last year.

Plus XT is only a sophomore and by most accounts is a pretty quiet kid that’s about his business. Not everyone has to immediately take on a leadership role the day they are on campus.

I have no doubt XT will be knocking heads this year and as he gains more confidence from results slowly slides into a leadership role on the D.
