Tigers HAVE to weather the crowd noise in 1st quarter!

Nov 29, 2013, 9:15 AM

They are urging their crowd to bring the noise here on the radio stations. We cannot have the wheels come off like UGA did when it got ambushed by that crowd last year.

Execution is key. No mistakes. This game reminds me of that cold one in 1987. Their crowd was very loud and they got to the Tigers.

We can keep ourselves in the game if we get through the 1st quarter and set ourselves up to win the game in future quarters.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Tigers HAVE to weather the crowd noise in 1st quarter!

Nov 29, 2013, 10:30 AM

With apologies to the late Bruce Lee, "Crowd noise doesn't hit back!" Huge football myth #1. Crowd noise wins games, LOL! Check with FSU on that absurd belief. They were disoriented and really confused throughout the first quarter in Death Valley, weren't they? The Tigers only have to weather their penchant for being unable to protect Tajh against those guys, and those Tiger DB's best be alert in the first 15 minutes, instead of asleep on the field. The crowd-effect myth is for the fans and sportscasters, not the focused athletes. BTW, UGA didn't get "ambushed by the crowd" last year-they were their usual Bobo-bipolar offensive self, and SC played to near perfection from the kickoff. That's what got the crowd so excited, not vice versa.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and for coaches that spend millions on sound systems

Nov 29, 2013, 10:43 AM

to practice against noise.

stressing your team takes on many guises, noise is one and a very real one.

too many false starts, delay of game penalties to suggest differently.

some teams are able to overcome it better than others; it doesn't mean it isn't factor.

just silly to suggest otherwise.

Re: and for coaches that spend millions on sound systems

Nov 29, 2013, 4:52 PM

And then, of course, there are those coaches who teach their kids to mentally focus, block out noise, and use only hand signals. The team takes their cues from the coach. If he's prepared, and has them prepared, no worries about noise. If he makes a big deal out of it, then it is an ever present excuse for poor execution after a loss. Sure didn't bother FSU and Fisher, playing in the loudest stadium on earth.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

mr sweeping comment is backing up...

Nov 29, 2013, 5:39 PM

again.

it's not myth when the coaches themselves promulgate it and as i said, some players/teams are more adept at handling it than others. that doesn't mean it isn't a factor or doesn't exist. it is and does.

http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/10/16/3691856/seminoles-make-noise-in-practice.html

do you think he forgot to do it against ncst last year?

too many teams have fallen to it. too many studies and complaints. it's a continued problem for the best of the best...

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wait - don't you mean "whether" the crowd noise?

Nov 29, 2013, 6:03 PM

After all, their noise depends on whether they're hung over, locked up, on a meth binge - and more importantly, in the game close enough for the fans to remain somewhat interested (and not run out to their vehicles for another fix)...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

are you promoting taking the crowd out of the game early?***

a beat down, Clemson throwing up about 28 points in the first quarter or even a free meth giveaway in the parking lot. By any means necessary.

tear gas is a crowd pleaser... no doubt.

That game colored everything I ever thought about the Coots and their fans. I was in the midst upper deck when Rodney threw that INT and was berated by someow class, albeit Hawt, Coot coeds mercilessly. Always, from that day forward, hated them and their trashy fans in perpetuity! Go Tigers and give them everything they have coming! I don't see a blowout, but it would be sooooo sweet!
