Tigers drop match to No. 13 South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Tigers (4-2, 0-0 ACC) battled to the end but came up short, losing to South Carolina, (7-0, 0-0 SEC) 7-0.

South Carolina started hot out of the gate, taking the win on Court 1 in doubles, but the Tigers didn’t go away quietly. Ultimately, the Gamecocks took Court 2 by a score of 6-3 to secure the doubles point.

Clemson continued to fight in singles, seeing three Tigers go to three set matches, but South Carolina eventually came up victorious on the six singles courts to take the match.

Up Next:

The Tigers will be back home to host North Florida at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Sunday, Feb. 13. First serve for that match is slated for 12:00 p.m.

Those scores look pretty dominating to me.

Seems the tennis programs is another program that needs to pick it up and start beating USCjr.

SC has won 7 straight now

And thats just unacceptable. SC is always a pretty decent team but they are not like at UGA level where they are always top 10. So we should not ever have a 7 match losing streak to them.

Thank you for answering my question on the other thread concerning what is holding us back. I understand it won't happen overnight and perhaps that #2 class 2 years ago needs time to develop as does last year's class. Afterall Weiss did take over a declined program... And it's been a messed up 2 years all around. Had the match been 4-3 or even a competitive 5-2. Just seems off since we do have talent.

Thanks again for any and all insight into clemson sports.
