Those making comments about not wearing garnet...

Feb 8, 2015, 10:40 PM

Growing up with my Grandpa being a Clemson grad, along with the vast majority of his side of the family being Clemson people, I didn't see me wearing anything but orange as I got older. Even as a knob at The Citadel, no way in hades I would be pulling for us against Clemson because I was a diehard Tiger fan since before I could remember.

At this point in life, I could never pull for Clemson over The Citadel (yes I know we'd lose 9/10 games in probably much any sport, varsity or club) because.....

A) I've met too many friends on the teams and can't go against them.

B) It's my future Alma Mater (I'm a fifth year)

It's opened my eyes to the fact that many things in life transcend, believe it or not, Clemson Sports.

I'm not saying everyone commenting against the idea of wearing Garnet should be at fault. Maybe you just don't have Garnet clothes or whatever, I get it. I'm just saying it looks really bad and really freaking douchey on your part if you can't put the rivalry aspect completely out of the way and you should get over your ### selves.

Did you wear carolina blue today?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Hey bro

Feb 8, 2015, 10:51 PM

You're about two days too late.

Thanks for playing though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Best Clemson fan I know pitched baseball for The Citadel.

Feb 8, 2015, 10:54 PM

That is non Clemson grad best fan of the Tigers.......even when we play The Citadel.

It was probably a slippery slope with him and El Cid.

Feb 8, 2015, 11:03 PM

Regardless, it's understandable. I've seen guys here who go both ways. Lot of guys from the Midlands pull for us against Carolina (USuC) just because their boys on our teams. Others just can't do that.

I'm just trying to make a point that some things in life transcend any rivalry. Probably didn't explain my point as well as I could have. Sorry if the people commenting above got a little butthurt.

slipperly slope = 3.6+ GPA. EL CID loved him & he loved

Looks like youre the one butthurt since you got called out for not doing what you think someone else should do. Well did you wear carolina blue???

But thats in direct conflict with this:

"I'm just saying it looks really bad and really freaking douchey on your part if you can't put the rivalry aspect completely out of the way and you should get over your ### selves."

Uncle Sam made me wear the green. But you're probably right for calling me out. Admittedly, went off the deep end a little with this post.

Saw some comments on this: http://www.tigernet.com/update/player/Clemson-turns-Solid-Orange-Friday-Garnet-Friday-18676 that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

Can't really convey my point though so just disregard the post. Sorry to bother.

Not certain that wearing Garnet helps make a usuc professor being murdered by his wife and then her committing suicide any better. If someone feels compelled to do it, I'm okay with it, but it means nothing if someone doesn't agree with doing it.

This subject is definitely past tense and has been politely unpolitely etc debated. On to other things as this is history

Some of these people will never get it. It's not your fault. Great post and thank you for saying what's right.

The whole thing is just a social media "look at me" mantra

Feb 9, 2015, 7:39 AM

social media has just fueled folks to either be the most offended or the most sympathetic....but more importantly you have to be the first do it.

I'm not just talking about the wear garnet day, but how many ribbons for causes are there? How many symbolic but generally meaningless things go across the social media platforms every-dang-day? Sheesh. And if you want to support all those causes, go right ahead. But do it with something more than just a gratuitous selfie.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Amen to this.

We beat these silly meaningless gestures into the ground.

Can we stop treating this even as if it was VT. It was not. This was a case of domestic violence that just happened to take place at USC.

This is exactly what kills me about some of the folks on here.....I don't pretend to know Clemtiger117 but I can tell by his post and his passion that he's as much a Clemson man as anyone else here on Tigernet. I'm sure there are plenty of coot trolls on here just like there are plenty of Clemson trolls on the coot boards so lighten-up on the paranoia in regards to calling anyone that dares to differ with you a coot! Let's try to be more tolerant of different opinions.
