This is another reason I pulled for Bama

Jan 11, 2022, 10:12 AM

I've gone form hatin' Saban to begrudging respect, to some admiration.

He doesn't do anything bad, teaches kids, etc. He's not Dabo, but I respect the #### out of him

Loved the shoulder tap at the end

Jan 11, 2022, 10:15 AM

No, I'm same way. I respect him. Not so much respect for Kirby.

Jan 11, 2022, 10:15 AM

little bit of an ### too, but I think somewhere along the way Saban learned showing a little love to the players publicly is a helpful thing.

Will Anderson was a beast at the beginning of the game

Jan 11, 2022, 10:18 AM

don't remember seeing his parents later in the game so he must have dropped off some

Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile,
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!!

This year is the most chill I have seen Saban...

Jan 11, 2022, 10:18 AM

In my hierarchy of hatred of who must lose, Bama isn't even in my top 5
1. Jawja
2. Ohio State
3. Notre Dame
4. South Carolina
5. Jawja

Solid list is

Jan 11, 2022, 10:23 AM

solid.

1 & 2 for sure in order. I'd probably swap 3 & 4 and 5 just starts the cycle over again.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Honestly...

Jan 11, 2022, 10:27 AM

South Carolina winning (as long as it isn't us) doesn't bother. I actually enjoy them thinking Beamer is the answer.

Long ago I decided I don't care if SC wins or looses.

Jan 11, 2022, 10:38 AM

If they win, we look better when we beat them. If they loose, they suffer. Either way is a win for Clemson.

FSU on that list?

definitely close to 1. Miami too maybe.

For me, even the likes of NC State have

Jan 11, 2022, 10:44 AM

passed FSU. Not because of the loss this year, but because ole Dave needs his teeth kicked down his throat. FSU is just kinda sad in a corner right now.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

FSU is on my list

Jan 11, 2022, 11:14 AM [ in reply to My how the mighty have fallen. 10 years ago where is ]

for that stunt they pulled in 2020. They'll forever be in my top 5.

5. Georgia
4. FSU
3. Nancy's Tate
2. Ohio State
1. UofSuC

There's something in these hills.

1,2,3 or Georgia, SC, and OSU and then a HUGE gap before

FSU, Notre Dame, NC State, and Georgia Tech

Jan 11, 2022, 10:55 AM

All three occupy the top spot of coaches all-time in their respective sports, IMO, and they're all three coaching at the same time the last two decades plus.

I think he's matured and grown into this type of coach.

Jan 11, 2022, 11:01 AM

I don't believe he began this way (family is Michigan State grads and they hated him and said he was a jerk). But I think he's developed and has always sought ways to grow as a coach and adjust as the game changes around him. I think most of our biggest concern is that Dabo won't do the latter.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's the #1 think about Saban

Jan 11, 2022, 11:03 AM

Adaptability. How different are his teams now than 10-15 years ago? The man is not too proud to change. He's got a different OC every week, it seems like.

Belichick is the same way...not afraid in the least of innovation.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's the opposite of Urban Meyer...

Jan 11, 2022, 11:06 AM

who tries to pretend he's a coach with integrity that cares about his players. Saban's genuine.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just goes to show: just because a guy isn't rah-rah

Jan 11, 2022, 11:07 AM

Bouncing around, dancing, using slang, all that stuff (no insult to coaches who are like that) doesn't mean he's not a player's coach. The players know who cares.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Ehhhh, I don't think he views himself as a builder of men

Jan 11, 2022, 11:08 AM [ in reply to He's the opposite of Urban Meyer... ]

to the extreme Dabo does.

I think he treats them reasonably and doesn't pull any sneaky BS, but at the end of the day they're cogs in the wheel.
