I fully expected a drop off for our program this season, and while still basking in the glory of the championship trophy, set my sights on the upcoming recruiting class. Perhaps this was unfair to our current roster of athletes, but when considering the incoming talent across the board, including a quarterback who spent as much time on the bench as on the field, I should be held blameless.
We now enter the home stretch in the same position as last year, our only blemish resulting from an injured quarterback and kicker, and as of today control our own destiny. It's easy enough to underestimate the players or even the unpredictability of college football itself, however, that's not the case. I underestimated Dabo, which lumps me in with a rather large crowd of people over the years.
His ability to put a winning product on the field, and doing so in a variety of ways, is evidence of his coaching prowess that deservedly places him in the nation's elite. Congratulations coach. The fact that some are complaining about the fashion by which you win ball games, is merely a result of the perennial powerhouse that you have built.
This team has exceeded my expectations as well( I thought we would lose 2 games)but now that we are division champs, anything less than the playoffs will be a big let down. Still, I can't see us repeating without more offensive production.Overthrown balls, dropped passes, fumbles in the red zone won't get it done. The way we win ball games is,imo, not my big concern. It's how we allow teams to stay in the ball game late in the third, and starting the 4th quarters that concern me.
