This offense could be better if….

Tony Elliot can find the identity of this offense. I believe this offense is a run first offense. And it starts with will Shipley he’s a beast I mean he’s so hard to bring down he can nearly fall forward for 2-3 yds every time he touches the ball. Then you mix in designed Qb runs and that’s what this offense is. Sure you pass some but you pass off the running game. As teams defend the run receivers open up and that should open up the deep ball as well. But Run Run Run and pray no one gets hurt. Run it 40-50 times a game that’s how we are going to win games also we can control the clock with 10 plus play drives and really keep the ball from the other team and with how good our defense is. Limiting our opponents possessions could be huge. I think that’s our best chance this year

We made enough mistakes in game with GT to cover the season. Every future opponent in ACC has now seen the light to combat the CU Tigers. Some will likely be more successful than the Yellow Jackets. Ga. tech is coming folks; watch out in future year match-ups.
Remember they lost to Northern Illinois in game #1. Clemson has a massive amount of improvement to make.

Good points but our passing the long ball does not seem to be a positive option.

You are right except we won’t be able to run against average run defenses due to our terrible offensive line. So if we don’t find a passing game we most likely will lose 2 or 3 more games. We can not be scared to call plays that may take a few seconds to develop.

line to commit to the old Saint Danniford "Three yards and a cloud of dust" offense, even if we wanted to. Shipley could get 3 or 4 yards 2 times out of three tonight, and get stonewalled by some GT defensive stunt the third time, and that would equal punting.

Agree completely. This team’s strength is a defense. We struggle to pass. Big tall receivers cannot get separation. DJ is inaccurate. He lacks touch on his passes. We cannot even execute the back shoulder throws we have made a living on for years. Our strengths to win are DJ and Shipley running to open up passes. We have great special teams. Play field position and defense and win the games we can. It won’t be pretty.

We have become one dimensional with an immobile inconsistent QB. We have to run the frigging ball because we can’t stretch the the field with any down the field passing or the QB taking off and running for the first down when receivers are covered. Good thing we are in the ACC because winning games against good teams just became a lot harder with this (lack of) offensive team…..Go Tigers!!!!

We can be a running team if we mix it up. It can’t all be between the tackles. We FINALLY ran outside a few times in the 4th quarter tonight including a jet sweep to Taylor. And those plays worked. We have to stay creative.
