I'm sick of that garbage.
Dabo knows this game. Coots always say this and I have no idea where they or what they base that off of.
Rant over

remind them of this
Jul 27, 2016, 2:58 PM

The interim year Dabo took over, he called all of the plays on offense. He ended that year with a head to head win over the ol' ball sack while both of them were calling the plays for their respective teams.
If he can't coach, how did he pull that one off?

B/c Dabo is a players coach, this somehow correlates
Jul 27, 2016, 3:13 PM

to him not being a smart man of the game. The same people are put off by his dancing and his interviews.
The same people will also say he isn't this tough old school, 3 yards and a cloud of dust throwback to how the "real" game was played and should still be played. For a while, unfortunately, even some of our very own were skeptical. I think they've learned Dabo is as tough as they come, but he has the rare ability to turn that on when it's needed. Otherwise, lets enjoy what we are doing. A lot people don't get that.
Dabo not only changed the players, he changed the team. He changed the Program. He changed the mentality. He changed the whole school. He changed the Board of trustees way of thinking. He unified everyone from the boosters to the occasional fans to the staff. He's even started to change how the media views the program. Once mocked and laughed at, he just keeps producing results on the field and in the classroom.
To anyone who still don't believe, I say F'em. All schools except Alabama would kill to have the success we've had the last 4-5 years and the foundation that's in place for the future.

I'll tell you where it came from.

Shakin the southland was the first place I read it. The writers there did not want Dabo they wanted a 'proven,' head coach. They continued to make that statement and believe it in the face of evidence. Folks here read STS and agreed because STS does indept analysis of Clemson's defensive and offensive plays and series.
Some Tnetters perpetuated the concept and were often contradicted by neither they nor we had any real evidence to support our belief. I think it finally became obvious that Dabo is one of the better coaches who ever coached a college football team.

I think even the some of the ESPN guys would only give him credit for being a players coach for a long while because he was young, unproven, didn't have coordinator experience, and were still expecting Clemson to not win the big game as had been the case for a decade or more.
But those two guys on STS really upset me with the disrespect they showed Dabo. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with either of not ever entering Death Valley again. They used to refer to him as "The Sweatshirt"

Did you know that Dabo doesn't even know the rules? He doesn't know how many guys go on the field or which side goes which way when they have the ball. He is just a very good cheerleader.
