This is typical for a coot football team. Watch what happens

to our place kicker Donald Igwebuike after he kicks the football to start the 1982 Clemson-Carolina football game. This happens at about the 0:30 mark. He gets targeted by a USC player. What a d-bag that Carolina player must have felt like when he got that assignment from the coach. "Hey, so and so, we're going to clean the clock of the placekicker right after he kicks off and is basically defenseless and want you to do it!" But he dutifully obeyed and proceeded to knock Donald backward. Of course Iggy kicked the ball out of the back of the endzone so there was no chance of a play on the ball. Just for this action 39 years ago we need to make sure they're paid back.

If so, coaches had some interesting music choices.

One Georgia game at Clemson Iggy got absolutely leveled on opening kick off, I was looking straight at it.

Every kick after that Terry Kinard(as I recall, don't hold it against me if some one else)stayed back to protect Iggy. He wasn't touched rest of the day even though the same guy would run in his direction. That dawg didn't want any of Kinard.

But it is football. It is a contact sport and if you put on a helmet and step on the field be prepared to get your d#^@ knocked in the dirt, kicker or no.

I remember, and videos of the time support my memory, that

Frank Howard Field had a noticeable "bump" to top off an abnormally high crown in the center back then. I have never seen another stadium with that much of a crown. I know it was done primarily for drainage, but it was so high that it forced QBs to actually adjust their sideline throws to keep from overthrowing receivers.

Thank Goodness, we corrected this arrangement when the field was redone several years ago.
