It's not necessarily the committee that isn't working. The problem (imo) is the number of playoff spots. 8 would be better. 16 would be ideal. Baylor and FSU are going to get jobbed in the current system.

games matching up the best teams and letting them prove it on the field and overcome any perceived biases for region, conference, tv appeal etc.

The way to do that is to get the best 16 teams and make a team win four games against good teams.

It would make the season too long.

The current system is not perfect, but it is much better than what we had.

I always thought there should have been 8 teams from the get go. As much as I love to watch college football I think 16 teams would be too much.Anyone outside of the top 8 imo had their chance to prove throughout the year they were deserving of a playoff spot.The controversy would be less or nonexistent at all. Because if you can't get in the top 8 what grounds could you stand on.Sure rank 9 & 10 would have some words to say about it.
The 16 team works for basketball but really with D1 football to me it wouldn't feel that teams outside of the top 10 deserve any chance of playing for the nc. Just my 2 cents.
