This is no longer the '2009-2013' ACC

Oct 28, 2017, 2:40 PM

These days, wins are harder to come by in the ACC.

The new coaching hires and improved recruiting have various teams in the conference on the rise.
-Syracuse with Dino Babers in his second year as head coach is an example.
-Wake Forest has also gotten a solid football team going.
These two teams were cellar dwellers a couple years ago, but they have now become more mid tier in our divison.
-Boston College is starting to get an offense going with their new scheme, along with that, they have always played good defense.
-Petrino at Louisville is offensive-minded and has put together a good offense there although they need to recruit more on defense.
-FSU still recruits at a high level, but one of the reasons for their apparent decline is that other teams in their division have just gotten better. According to computer rankings, FSU isn't as bad as their record. They've played the hardest schedule.
-Fuente and Richt also have VT and UM, respectively, back on the rise.
-In the Atlantic Division currently, there are technically no doormat teams. The lowest ranked teams division-wise are still near-average in overall NCAA.

This is a reason why our conference wins have, at times, appeared more "ugly" or "not as convincing" against the typical teams even though we have some of the most talented Clemson teams ever.

On the other hand, with our current team as well as last year's CFPNC team, if we played in the 2009-2013 ACC, we would have blown or would be blowing most everyone out.

I remember in the 2011-2013 ACC, in which we were in the Boyd & Watkins era on offense w/ Chad Morris as OC, we had like a 3 game regular season, which was against FSU, the Coots, and a strong OOC team, usually an SEC one. The success of our season was decided only on those. Even if we won the other 10 games, even in dominated fashion, our season was considered by us to be a complete flop if we lost 2 or more of those. This was because the ACC wasn't a good conference then.

I remember FSU in 2013, who went on to win the BCSNC that year, that, although ranked in top 5 of the polls when they played us, nobody bought into them being good at that time due to the ACC still being a bit of a cupcake conference then. Everyone thought that they hadn't played anyone.

I for one am glad you are stopping. You are one of the most ignorant posters ever. You obviously think very highly of your own opinion, unlike the rest of us - RockHillTiger
