Think twice before sending out that dink pic.

So this is a 100% true story about a person close to me. It played out yesterday after work and should be a cautionary tale for all you young amateur photographers who are proud of your little feller. If you have a few minutes, it's worth a read. Also, I'll try to make it somewhat funny, because I'm a sick SOB. I'll change the names all up in an effort to minimize doxing and all that jazz.

A year or two ago, "the Dude" had just recently had a kid with his live-in girlfriend. He was finally becoming a man and life was good. He is chatting up this "girl" in some sort of online forum. Things get hot and heavy and they exchange noodz.

Years go by, "girl" is long since an afterthought. The kid and live-in girlfriend are thriving and "the Dude" is fully a man. He has a business, some charities he works with, etc. Out of thin air, multiple group texts go out to huge swaths of people; some random local numbers, sprinkled in with family members, business associates, co workers, etc. These group texts start very benign. Selfies of the Dude, with stupid texts like "don't I look cute". I am on one of these texts, which is where I enter the story. I contact "the Dude" and say, "Dude, I think you've been hacked". The Dude says, "uhhhh yea... I'm living in hell right now." He goes on to explain the story in detail...

Behind the scenes, the Dude is being extorted for money. The "girl" from a few years back (or associates of "hers" or whoever has possessions of those dink pics) threatens to send these pics to his live-in girlfriend, all of his coworkers, charity sponsors, family members, grandparents, inlaws, parents coworkers, etc. if he doesn't pay them $750. They send him lists of all of the numbers, proving that they've done their research... and they have. They know everything about him.

Dude doesn't pay, and within 3 or 4 hours, his dink pictures are sent out to all of these people, they're posted all over his charity's facebook page, in the comment sections of his grandparents facebook pages, blasted out in group texts, etc. Also sent out are the text chats with this "girl" that go about as you would expect... "oh baby I want you so bad" sent at 4am. I mean, his face is in these freaking dink pictures. They're in his house... in a bathroom that I've pooped in before... it could have been me!

So yea, this happened yesterday to a person close to me. I guess the silver-lining is that he has a decent rig on him. Plus, I already knew he was a dumbarse, so it doesn't really change my opinion of him.

This hustle has been making its rounds in the upstate for years. I hooked up with a friend’s girl a few years ago and dated her for a couple weeks. She ended up dumping me and got back together with my friend after I accidentally peed on her cat.

Anyhow, they decided to pull this same #### and emailed me a list of phone numbers, emails, and Facebook people that they were going to send a particular picture to. I knew exactly who was behind it based on the picture and list of people they included in the list.

I worried about it for an hour or so and then realized a lot of the people on the list had already seen my junk and I was actually pretty proud of the picture because the angle made it look like I had an inch or two more than I actually pack.

I ended up photoshopping my package into the picture of the dude standing in front of the tank in China from a long time ago and replied to the original threat with “this is where I make my stand”. The kicker is that I copied a whole bunch of people on the list to my email reply.

I guess my friend and his girl realized the scam wasn’t going to work and dropped it. I saw my buddy at a bar six months later and had a good laugh about it. She dumped him too. It all ended well because he bought me a couple beers to apologize.
