To sum up the average coot's belief...

Apr 15, 2015, 2:11 PM

Per FGF:
"We will improve exponentially and Clemson won't. That spells doom for them in November."

Now, let me ask you coots...what are you smoking? No seriously, take the garnet glasses off, put down the illicit drugs, take a deep breath and try and restate that again without bursting into laughter.

Let me get this straight, you coots believe you will get better exponentially, magically? Is it the addition of Hoke? You think a coach can "exponentially" turn around a D in a few months? Is it your returning players? The same ones that barely got you above .500 last season (oh wait, I mean close to 10 wins LOL)? Is it the fact that you ran off some returning players that had some experience? Is it the fact that your QB situation is still murky and some of you are relying on a true FS QB to come in and sling it around like Watson? SMH

So Clemson, the team that has ACTUALLY signed some extremely talented players will regress and, according to you bird brains, quite substantially. Now look, I know we lost a lot of starters, you coots love to remind us of that. What you fail to realize is that we also have returning experience. Do you seriously doubt the likes of Lawson and Reader? Do you seriously think Boulware won't be up to the task of hunting down your QB. Do you think Kearse and Alexander are scrubs? And lastly, a Watkins-esque player is arriving on campus this summer...some guy named Deon Cain.

I expect you coots and your team to be improved in some areas. Problem is, I also expect you to regress in others. I think you will have to find ways to manufacture an offense. You keep mentioning Watson getting hurt...what about your QBs. If any of your scrub QBs get hurt, what does that do for you? Every team faces that risk...Watson beat you with one leg. He's not a push over that can't take the pain. I expect your D to be improved...great? No. But improved...but I also expect your offense to suck out loud. This doesn't bode well for your overall team performance.

I expect our Defense to take a step back. We were number 1 last season weren't we? How far back? I say by the end of the season and our match-up, we'll be around 20 to 25 in the country. On offense, I expect us to be much improved with a better, more talented O line, huge stable of RBs and WRs, and of course, Watson. Not to mention a capable QB if Watson has to be taken out...

So dream on cooties...dream "exponentially" of better coot football. I'll be there to remind you, it's just a dream.

I read that earlier. They are REALLY trying to convince

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The problem isn't just the players they lost....

Apr 15, 2015, 2:34 PM

Another part of their problem is they're simply not replacing the players they've lost with equal or better talent.

That's what happens where the are no more 5-star in-state recruits with parents who are willing to accept cash, cars, trips and/or jobs in exchange for sending their younguns' to Coot U.

Apr 15, 2015, 2:41 PM

I can seem them finishing anywhewe from 5 - 7 to 7 - 5.

While the defense will be improved, albeit not significantly, the offense is going to take a giant step backwards.

Realistically expecting anything better than that is nothing more than typical grandiose delusions and over-exaggerated optimism.

Exactly what I was explaining to a friend of mine the other

Apr 15, 2015, 4:07 PM [ in reply to The problem isn't just the players they lost.... ]

day. Clemson has been recruiting players that are just as talented if not more talented to go in the position of the graduating players, so the step back we have this year won't be like the step back they had last year. They didn't have the talent to fill in like we have.

That lack of depth of talent looks to be a problem on their offense as well, so they may have some players step up, but I just don't see the same offensive success as they had last year.

HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT THE MOT HAS NO MORE FAITH IN OUR D THAN TOP 20-25. LUCKILY WE HAVE COACH VENABLES DOING THE COACHES RATHER THAN YOU PEOPLE. WE GOT PLENTY IN THE TANK LEFT TO INFLICT A LITTLE PAIN. DO NOT LOW RATE YOUR OWN TEAM. HELL AT LEAST DONT GO FARTHER THAN TOP 10.

There's nothing wrong with a 20th ranked D...

Apr 15, 2015, 2:49 PM

Especially when you have one of the best offenses in the country. Those pairings are championship caliber.

Of course, I'd love to have a top 10 defense and hope you are absolutely right...

Re: To sum up the average coot's belief...

Apr 15, 2015, 2:40 PM

TTT,

I believe the Coot might just be smarter than you! We were #1 in defense last year, so there's really not a lot more we can do. USuC, on the other hand, was, well, I don't think the statisticians wasted their time tracking it down the list that far, but I think they were in the low 90's. So yes, they can improve exponentially.

Still, I believe he may have used the wrong term when he said "improve exponentially". It would appear to me that last year they started on their run of "EXPONENTIAL REGRESSION" and the Ol' ######## has the team headed in that same direction, probably with a losing season on the horizon.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That logic fails, however, when the end assumption is that

they'll be better than us.

Like i said in a previous post,

Apr 15, 2015, 2:44 PM

Coot terminology: everyone knows Blackshear will be the next Clowney and Nunez will have a more productive FR season than DW did at Clemson. They will be the SEC least champions again and will have a good shot at making it into the college playoffs with this excellent Defensive lineman class they are bringing in.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I said it before and I will say it again.....

Apr 15, 2015, 2:50 PM

I will bet any of those JockStraps any amount they are willing to lose that the Coot footabll team does not win ten or more games in 2015.

So far I've not gotten any takers.

Re: I said it before and I will say it again.....

Apr 15, 2015, 4:51 PM

I don't think you would get a bet of any amount on them winning 8 games or more. And if those feathered clucks only have a 5 win regular season again, that drunk will be running them over getting out of cootlumbia heading deeper south. I honestly believe that this is Slurriers last season as a coach anywhere!!! Slurrier is tired, and he has had more than enough of those idiots in and around cootlumbia. And a 5-7 season will turn coot nation against Slurrier. They will say that a 5-7 season is all Steve's fault bc of him telling reporters he would probably coach 2 or 3 more years. They will say his public confession run all their best recruits off.

2015 South Carolina Gamecocks Football Schedule

1)coots lose to Tarholes @ Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
2)coots lose to UGA @ Sanford Stadium, Athens, GA
3)coots lose to Missouri @ Faurot Field, Columbia, MO
4)coots lose to LSU @ Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC
5)coots lose to Texas A&M @ Kyle Field, College Station, TX
6)coots lose to Tennessee @ Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN
7)coots toss up with Florida Gators @ Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC
8)coots lose to Clemson @ Williams-Brice Stadium, Columbia, SC

I say they will lose to tarholes in charlotte in their first game with new QB. Tarholes return 10 starters on offense with Sr. QB, I'll take the holes in this one. Personally, I see coots losing 7 with a possible 8 games, and no bowl game!!!:)

It's not Kool-Aid when most media outlets (and Vegas) have us as a legit contender for the playoff, with a legit contender for Heisman. That's not Kool-Aid... that's the reasonable expectation. On the other hand, all of those media outlets (and Vegas) have written the Coots off as dead in the water.

I hope you enjoyed your little run, because a long run of darkness is headed your way. You know how that feels though, being a coot and all.
