Clemson perspective on FSU statement.

Jul 31, 2021, 9:40 AM

I have no idea what this Clemson site is. Have no idea if it is considered a reliable and reasonable site or not. Just posting it here to see what y'all think of Thrasher's statement?

Me? I don't know why Thrasher said what he said when he said it to whom he said it. But, I have no doubt he didn't say it without talking to his counterpart in Clemson.

Its like a lot of sites...rumor and conjecture. They do some pretty good reporting and passing along of common intrigue. The real question is... from which direction does this all come from. Is this rumor being driven by sec officials or the rumor mill? Doubt any of us will know until the official report comes out.
Personally, i dont see having a super conference. If you are playing only the best teams, all the time, youre going to beat yourself up year in and year out, allowing.less qualified teams into this playoff whatever.

I barely kept up with any of this conference realignment stuff over the last few months/weeks but with the move that Texas and OU made I'm sure there have been A LOT of other conversations between the blue bloods and the conferences. I doubt Wake is getting many calls but Clemson, FSU, Miami, VT, and UNC are all likely being courted by the SEC, BIG, and ACC. Michigan, PSU, tOSU, Wisconsin, and Iowa are getting calls too. IMO, only teams in the Big12 should be panicking.

I’m confident Ohio State is in contact with the SEC, the other three I doubt. Political considerations are playing a prominent role in these events.

The strange part to me is, these public universities conduct business with the same amount of openness as a membership vote at Augusta National.

Forget pairing Clemson with FSU

If the SEC looks eastward, it will be Clemson + somebody. I just don't think FSU is necessarily the other team. This outgoing president could be serving his school's purpose by sticking FSU in the conversation when they really aren't in it.

Clemson + UNC might be a better choice for the SEC since they already have UF, the premiere school in Florida. This is NOT the same as the current situation in Texas. A&M is a great school but it most certainly isn't the premiere school in my state. It would not surprise me if Sanky's long game was really UT when A&M joined.
