For sure their fan base knows that they can't use USC anymore legally bc the real USC took that right from them several years ago in federal court. They should use usuc as their brand name bc that is what most recognize them as.

You can stick a band on its leg but I don't see that helping much either.
A chicken's still a chicken by any other "brand."

serious brand issues. Two of their main identifiers have to be followed with “...no, the OTHER USC” and “no, the OTHER Carolina.” And their mascot is a rooster used by definition in an illegal and brutal gambling exhibition. And the shortened name of the mascot is more commonly used to refer to male ########.
That is a LOT to overcome.
If I were running that place, I’d put significant energy into re-branding, including changing the mascot and owning a name (“SC” probably being the best choice). Easy for me to say as I don’t care about their traditions, but their branding is not good.

The interlocking SC was stolen by them from Southern Cal. The only original thing they have is that stupid chicken crowing non-stop.

"This SC logo represents a new attitude and a winner."
Southern Cal thought so too before the DirtPeckers tried to steal it from them.
I think he misspelled weiner or whiner.

"He's right, they ain't Clemson. That's why USC is in California, Carolina is in Chapel Hill, and THE university in South Carolina is right here in Clemson. They ain't Clemson, and they're never gonna be."
Brand that.

They can start by burning down that dump they play in and actually field a football team capable of competing with Kentucky and Vandy. You can put all the lipstick you want on a rooster but it is still a dirt ######.

Pictorial branding that seeks recognition, can become a topic for laughter if the product on the field does not strike fear into the hearts and minds of their opponent. People all across the United States recognize the Tiger Paw but it is the word "CLEMSON" that strikes fear into the hearts and minds of our opponent. Our Gamecock friends are eager to tell us that people outside the South do not know where Clemson is located. Perhaps, not, but they know what Clemson is in the scheme of things, and that is the important thing.

I didn’t know they had a fight song and have followed Clemson football for 35 years. Is step to the rear a real song? Did someone write it for Scar? I’ve asked many Scar fans over the years and they didn’t know that, they had season tickets for years, but I dint know that they ever went to school there

They already have a ready-made fanbase. They show up in many arenas on Monday Nights and have the cheer down pat. Talking about recognition?????? Thank you, Mr. McMahon!!!!!
Mebbe they can use Kurt Angle as their new mascot, since he is a cocky Esso Bee.

Maybe change the name of the Univrsity?

There is nothing very special about it. I was thinking University of Columbia but then realized a much more prestigious school has a similar name (Columbia University) and much more prestigious football program with two more national titles then our feathered friends to the South. Maybe Five Points University? Mascot can be the Night Owls and keep a bird theme without the future PETA lawsuits.
