That was kind of the narrative earlier this year once the vaccinations became available wasn't it? I told my wife I was getting vaccinated if for no other reason than to not have to wear a mask anymore. Boy did I underestimate the desire of government to give the appearance of governing. We're both vaccinated and boosted, but I'm getting a little tired of the goal line moving. It's going to be years before this fiasco has run its course.

I have news for you, 600 years from now there will still be a Covid variant. Just like the flu, there will always be a variant. With each variant, it is much more 'catching' but at the same time each new variant is weaker. But no matter 'how weak' it gets, it'll still be politicized til the end of time.

I think the expectation was that once vaccinated, we'd treat it like the flu. It's still treated like the plague despite 99.2% of deaths being the unvaccinated.

Once again, the goalposts moved ...
The "powers that be" determined that a person is not considered vaccinated until 14 days after they have had the shot. So anyone that died from the shot within 14 days of getting it is marked down as unvaccinated.
Also, after several months, they are considered unvaccinated again until they have had the booster.
Now there are Unvaccinated, Partially Vaccinated, and Fully Vaccinated categories. Vaccination is boolean ... either you are, or you're not. Partially and Fully is just a trick.
And there go the goalposts again.
Thus, you have your skewed and misleading data.
Another way to control people because they know people would rather take another shot than admit that they might have been wrong about it ...
Sad ... but true.

because of some nonsense about it interfering with the football players’ classes. And we’re all supposed to nod along and pretend that the “student” part of “student-athlete” matters to any school.

I agree that winning a game via your opponent forfeiting is not a good scenario, but I would love to hear an alternate plan.
I don’t think it makes sense to reschedule the game for two weeks (or more) until team one is healthy enough to field a team. Under that scenario what if over those two weeks team number one gets healthy, but team number two gets less healthy via Covid, but can still play?
It’s a tough situation but everybody started out with the same set of rules at the beginning of the season. The health of all teams will be impacted by the logistics they chose to, or chose not to, deploy and good old fashioned luck.
Eat what you kill. Sink or swim. Survival of the fittest. Charles Darwin says thank you.
I don’t know what the solution is, I don’t like the new policy, but I don’t know what’s a better alternative.
