The Dems have been using this for what seems forever. It's the most lame attack and is patently dishonest.

Let me know when the Pubs introduce a bill on the floor to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and a Pub President that would sign such a bill and I'll show you an ecstatic Dem Party. They would end up with a Super Majority in both houses and a defeated President.

There are a few Pubs looking at ways to sustain these programs through means testing, age eligibility, etc as none of these programs are sustainable for very much longer in their present form.

So yes, there are some Pubs looking to figure a way forward, Scott for sure, but the Pubs as a whole don't have the will to take this on and we'll limp along until there is a crisis and whoever's in power will be punished.

So yeah Scott and Lee shouldn't look anymore surprised than Joe looks honest when he says that's what the GOP wants to do. Mitch McConnell totally disavowed Scott's idea and McCarthy says there will be no cuts. Perhaps honest Joe can trot out "put y'all back in chains" line at the next SOTU address.

It is what aboutism, because both the Pubs and the Dems will say things they know are not true. Scott and Lee are being dishonest, no doubt. They do want to make changes to these entitlements.

The Dems have been scaring the poor and elderly for years that the Pubs are going to drastically curtail these programs. They know that really isn't going to happen. Especially now with a Dem Senate and a veto pen also in Biden's hand why even bring this up in the SOTU address?

Both are more interested in doing whatever it takes to stay in power, hence McConnell and McCarthy being on record very recently that they will not cut Medicare and SS.

Scott and Lee are being dishonest and Biden is being dishonest in portraying the GOP as ready to kick granny over the cliff.

Both need to address what is a huge looming problem. I know for one that Medicare will not be salvaged simply by cut backs to hospitals and doctors. There will be pain ahead and to deny that is irresponsible.

Until term limits are finally put in play, career politicians will continue to posture instead of work to fix problems.
