An important thing (i think) getting lost in the CFB

Jul 4, 2022, 12:51 PM

Conference and Playoffs discussion is that the athletes are kinda maxxed out right now in terms of # games played per season. Unless D1 FB is going to become minor-league NFL and the players actually sign contracts, they are still Student Athletes and are limited by time and physical ability (some, not all).

Very Good Point

Reminds me of the early 1980's. I was taking multivariable calculus and had a handful of baseball players in the class. At some point in the spring, they took off for a roadtrip to western states. They traveled in a bus at least as far as Texas maybe further. When they got back, they asked me how the class was going and I answered "#### hard. Don't know how you leave and pass." Well none of them did. Some dropped the class and some flunked. I survived with a C or a D. To your point bengaline®, I'm unsure how some of the real student-athletes pull it off without lots of tutors.

Athlete Friendly Professors

Jul 4, 2022, 1:20 PM

^ someone touched on this in another thread or maybe I read it in another article.

School's like Clemson where you've got a major revenue generator like football have professors that are lenient on athletes with course loads.

To what extent I'm honestly not sure what that looks like (maybe someone can touch on this in the know nowadays).

That said, if we breakaway to a 2 conference league, at that point I think you make school an optional bonus and go ahead and sign players as employees or contractors.

Gonna be wild to see how CFB evolves the next few years

I believe Clemson now has a whole building or department designated to help student athletes make it through their classes.

If you play football and get your tutoring help then I believe you have a great chance of passing. If you go at it alone not sure it can be done. Just not enough time in a week.

I think academic requirements/eligibility will be discarded

At least in the two Super Conferences. It will be PROFESSIONAL football and they will for all intents and purposes be well-paid pros.

Dang if it goes to that extreme I could see Dabo heading out. The student athlete side of it seems to be what he talks and cares the most about.

disguise the product as "college" football. But make no mistake, it's over. No superstar in a Super Conference with a massive NIL deal will have to be concerned about academic eligibility. No way.

That was kinda my point in @SocMan2 thread yesterday. Dabo's values don't align with super conferences and more games etc. He won't compromise that to anyone. Would be sad.
