Bryants non catch

Sep 1, 2013, 2:10 PM

Why didnt Dabo ask for a review on that long pass to Bryant? Looked like he caught it and the ground caused the ball to pop out.

There's your answer.

You have to maintain possession, even through contact with the ground.

Confused here
So a running back can go down and ball hit the ground can't be a fumble, but on a pass it's null and void even if he had made a move and a step. ???

Exactly. I thought he caught it, took a few steps, then lost

I thought the other one that he caught, landed, and turned

would have been reviewed. It was knocked out, but I thought you could argue me made a football move, thus making it a fumble out of bounds

Ground cant cause a fumble

Looks like he caught it, made a football move forward, the ball comes out after he hit the ground

Yeah, that's true. Making a football move establishes possession. Don't recall him making one though. I would have to take another look at it.

Xavier Dye through this point of his play. He has all the talent in the world but hasn't produced as expected yet. Hope this changes, as we will need him and or Peake to step up at some point this season.

I thought it was a catch

Because he appeared to take two steps with possession. It could have that he didn't have control of the ball, but the ref seemed to indicate that it was not a catch based on the ground jarring it loose. If that wasn't a catch the phrase needs to changed to catch AND hold.
