A lot of decent points, but seems like some overreach on connecting some things
I’m shifting my opinion here
Trump was a big sore loser. He wasn’t planning a coup/insurrection
He was keeping his last 15 minutes of fame while still relevant
“I will be there. Historic Day”. That doesn’t sound like the smoking gun
It was the irrational rants of a madman and a bunch of idiots took it too far. Does that mean he incited it? Maybe so, but maybe not
He’s an egomaniac, having a huge rally to pitch a fit and to have people talking about him from Election Day to when Biden was inaugurated is great for a guy like that
After all of the discussion of him being an idiot for 5 years, giving him the credit to plan a coup based on voter fraud and carry it out sounds like some 4D chess to me
Ignore him and he will go away
No reason to convict, then vote on him not being able to run for office again. He won’t even come close to the Republican nominee in 2024. If he comes as his own party, it will be laughed out of the debate.

coup, although the flurry of replacements of a bunch of department heads including DoD and the Pentagon with a bunch of loyalists, AFTER the election, is....curious. It raised some eyebrows, because the list of reasons for doing such a thing is very short.
As quozzel said, Trump is a chaos-surfer. He lobs grenades into rooms without any particular plan, and waits to see what kind of chaos erupts, and then quickly calculates how to use it to his advantage. Had hostages actually been taken in the Capitol, or worse, Senators or Congressmen executed, the need to declare a state of emergency and the carte blanche power that goes with it certainly occurred to Trump and his team, whether it was planned or not.

Of course it's edited. You have to combine different video clips to show the whole story. What do you want, the full raw video of every single camera that day? Y'all would be on here scoffing, saying, "I'm not watching all that."
And there is full video you can watch of certain angles, and it's plenty damning.

Agreed there is nothing explicitly saying do this!
I think what, what’s his face down below means about doctored videos is that they are well edited
Which is kinda what I was saying in the OP. Stringing some of these events together on videos and in Tweets to make them sinister is kind of an overreach

If a guy has a pattern of lobbing grenades, is he not legally responsible when one of them goes off in such a way that people are killed and democracy is threatened - especially if that guy is supposed to be the President ??

Thats pretty much the definition of incitement, he didn't want them to march to the Capitol and have a bake sale in his honor, he wanted to see how far it would go. Encouraging people to "fight like h e l l", "peacefully" LOL, that doesn't wash, not to mention all the shid he tweeted post election to keep peoples dander up.
It's a political trial, not criminal, so if we consider what constitutes a high crime/misdemeanor; encouraging a mob to march on the Cap while both houses are certifying the election he lost...if that's not a high crime or misdemeanor what is?

Fluff,
Here is my question(s).
Would all of those people have believed that the election was stolen if Trump had conceded after a reasonable number of legal challenges were lost ?
Would all of those people have come to DC on Jan 6th, if Trump had not invited them and promised them a big show ?
Would so many of those people have gone to the Capitol if Trump had not told them to (& promised he would be right there with them) ?
Would many of those people have been looking to hang Mike Pence if Trump had not deliberately misled them that Pence could overturn the election results ?
Every action (& inaction) that Trump took from November 10th through Jan 6th incited this insurrection. For almost 2 months, he refused to deal with reality and actively stoked the lies that fueled this insurrection. At any point along the way, he could have acted like a President (or even like an adult) and accepted the results publicly. That would have eliminated any such insurrection.
The bottom line is that there is NO WAY that this insurrection would have happened without his involvement.
