Rogers is my last name, but to my knowledge, I'm not related to Fred. He was a really good person.
When my oldest daughter graduated from UConn, he was the commencement speaker. He told about when his show first began, and its budget was $150 per week, including his salary. That told he certainly was not money crazy.
His producers were about to cancel his show when a TV expert told them, "You better keep that guy because his show is your only one with a chance of going national." The expert was right, and the rest is history.
The UConn grads gave him a red sweater and a pair of sneakers as part of the program.
