There was a play in the game

Nov 12, 2022, 11:22 PM

That has me confused so perhaps those of you who watched on tv got an explanation.

Late in the game a Tiger player apparently caught a pass at the sidelines and fumbled that was recovered by a Card player. The Ball ended up going out of bounds. The official who made the call signaled for the clock to keep running. My immediate thought was that he didn’t completely make the recovery and it was a live ball until it went out of bounds.Wasvthis mentioned by the announcers.

I noticed as well. They have considered possession when he fell on it and then it went out of bounds?

Obviously there was questions between the officials ...or confusion.

I’m glad that you saw it. I think it was a fumble that no one recovered and at least one Zebra realized that it was a free ball until it went out of bounds. Perhaps the Card player had possession before it went out of bounds but the official closest to it didn’t.

As it turned out it didn’t really matter.

A thousand words”. For the second day in a row I was on the road listening to the BB game Fri. Night and FB game today. I heard Munson call the play but he didn’t have a good explanation so they just waited for the official review. I was dodging Semi’s on I 26, in the rain so I couldn’t follow it either. I will watch the whole game tonight and tomorrow.

Glad to be home!

Go Tigers!

Announcers are wrong as much as weathermen

I swear sometimes I wonder if they are even watching the game they are calling. They say things out loud that are so patently, obviously wrong, one wonders how they can keep their jobs. Expecting them to cover some particular detail correctly is spitting into the wind.

The homer-ism is strong in them, too. I practically throw up a little every time I watch an SEC game on ESPN.

From what I could see on the replays, the WR caught the pass and fumbled it, the Louisville defensive player picked up the ball (had control) and started running. He was hit, the ball was knocked loose and fumbled out of bounds.

Would that not stop the clock? I’m asking because I do not know the answer. I wasn’t sure that they recovery was made. Again, I don’t know. It happened directly in front of me and I couldn’t figure out what was happening.

Yes. The clock should have stopped on the change of possession when the play was over.
