I just watched a Fordham OL get drafted…

Have any Clemson offensive linemen been drafted? A program that has won two national championships and five conference championships, and had been to the CFP five out of six seasons, and FORDHAM has a better OL?
Dabo is a great head coach, but he effed up by retaining a subpar OL coach for WAAAAAYYY too long. Our OL recruiting and development so obviously suffered. Player development at several positions has suffered.

Were either of them drafted in this year?

No. I talking about the current draft. And it would seem that a program with Clemson’s achievements in recent years would have a senior OL better than anyone at FORDHAM.
Recruiting. Development.
Coaching.

NFL. Take a look at some rosters.
OL is the hardest to evaluate. I’m hoping the changes to our offense will make our OL look a lot better.

I don't think Clemson had any lineman that were considered strong prospects this draft.
If I remember right...I think we had one graduate and he tore his ACL?
Regardless, I'm just as puzzled at how our OL has had a time being considered strong prospects.
Maybe the coaching staff should be getting more credit for our success -- idk how we can really call it.

Pretty sure Carman Jackson got drafted. John Simpson starts for the Raiders.

Does Clemson even have any draftable O-linemen

For the life of me can't remember if we played any seniors along the o line last year. There are some things to criticize Caldwell over but this isn't one of them.

A strong program SHOULD have senior OL on the team EVERY season. That’s one position that you just can’t leave to uber-talented underclassmen. We need experienced depth at OL, and we didn’t have it last season. That is most definitely attributable to poor recruiting and player development at the position over the last 2-3 years.
That has to get fixed, now. If not, getting back to being a perennial CFP program isn’t going to happen.

I have to assume you're joking. No way do you expect the staff to control how old players are. Right?

Flying Tiger I am picking up what you are laying down here.
I somewhat agree.
I think the thing people keep missing when it comes to our success in recent years is the use of "tempo"! Tempo and relying on wearing the DL down by volume of plays really helps a OL that struggles. The thing now is; more teams have learned how to play defense and call plays against tempo A. Then B. Clemson has gone away from tempo. Which in my opinion was a mistake(not a coach just a casual fan with an opinion and no I am not trying to coach the team, it's just one persons opinion).
I think with a QB that can get it close to the WR's we tend to have stacked on our roster even before the recent Natty's; tempo keeps us competitive. It(TEMPO) masked our OL in some years. In 2015 I thought our OL was good and just benefitted from tempo. If we are going to slow it down and just try and dictate to teams; we need better OL play no doubt.
I think Thomas Austin is going to do a great job. I like the way the offensive staff is built. I liked the way it was before with Coach Elliott as well. But, windshield mentality, we have to look forward. Clemson still has a wealth of talent. Remember finishing with the #1 recruiting class just a few seasons ago? The SEC homers hate to hear any schools outside their conference can play; but they will have to get over it. The truth is; with a more accurate QB Clemson beats their golden goose Georgia. We played them basically with one hand tied behind our back and they barely managed a "DUB"! Tisk Tisk.
IN short, we aren't that far off. And the sobering season of ((((((( 10 freakin wins)))))) may help motivate the team in the offseason to work even harder. The OL this year "looks the part already"! Physically they look good and look how you want an OL to look. Now it's a matter of getting the physical nasty to show up in between the lines. Skill player wise - we are good to go! I think some of the WR's people aren't talking about now will emerge. Sleepers if you will; for now.

Only been watching for a few years, or perhaps you are a sophomore at Clemson and too young to have a real clue about how position recruiting and program-building works.
Either way, it's not about "controlling how old players are" (LMAO... are you stoned???).

It just goes to show what a great coaching job the staff did to get 10 wins and a bowl win out of the depleted roster that produced just one draftee

It’s Dabo’s stubbornness. We could have another Natty with decent OL development.

Or ... we could have two less without Dabo’s brilliance.
