I believe that the ACC

Jan 17, 2022, 9:26 AM

Hit a home run when they selected Jim Phillips as the new commissioner. College football has issues that need to be addressed before they decide how many teams should be in the playoffs. The portal and NIL certainly should be corrected before other issues. We all see how the new changes are affecting the game. I’m sure the previous commissioner would not be as vocal as the new
Agree?

So glad the "old commissioner" is gone, and so far, I like the replacement. I just wish this had happened many years ago.

Our “old commissioner” locked the conference into a lousy tv deal until around 2034. We are way behind the SEC and Big10 in revenue with no way for Clemson to get out because of the grant of rights.

You might be right. But at this point, what is the main point of the ACC being a holdout on expanding the CFP? I'm worried that we don't have any cards, as a conference, to play here.

I personally think an expanded CFP will help level the playing field between the SEC and the rest of the conferences, some of whom are often locked out in the current 4-team system, while the SEC has had 3 all-SEC championship games since 2011.

What do we gain by slowing down the inevitable?

I agree with you it’s coming whether we like it or not . Too much $$$$$ in their eyes . But the one asking point the ACC is asking for is to fix this NIL mess first . Maybe it will make the NCAA at least put a few guidelines in place . If not may not have to worry about playoffs anyways

I agree we need to do something around NIL & paying players, etc. It's a mess, and I personally hate it.

One thing to remember is that when the CFP contract ends in 2025, it no longer requires unanimous vote to change it. So, while we have the leverage currently to slow down the CFP expansion train, that doesn't last indefinitely.

The SEC will not agree to a conference limit....

Jan 17, 2022, 9:49 PM

As long as the ACC and Big10 agree on that, I don't see anything changing.

I strongly disagree

Jan 17, 2022, 7:46 PM

but I know nothing about the subject but love to disagree.

I don't doubt there's some rational reason to explain all that but find it hard to believe how big a mess this was allowed to become.

You should start getting into Clemson basketball more.

You’ll find lots to disagree with, especially with most of what’s posted here. ??

Me too.

Don’t expect the simpletons here to agree with you. They are still mad that a “Yankee” with no ties to the ACC was selected. Because we know that people like that are incapable of understanding the ACC or making it a more successful conference.
