Re: define "fan":
Full conversion. The same amount of time, money, thoughts, etc. you currently spend on Clemson would be converted to coots.

Can no longer be a Clemson fan at all. Cannot hide in a chicken costume. Just an all-out coot lover. Out in the open.

Perfect. I'll drop the time,m money and thoughts about Clemson to as close to zero as possible. My answer would then be yes.

The current state of CFB and NIL makes this an easy choice.

Everyone has a price.... for 2 million in cash tax-free, I would have to strongly consider it. I learned a long time ago to never say never.

But outside of unicorn land, no way in hell. Go Tigers !!!

I’d do it for more money. Maybe $20 Million.

Because I would just quit my job and move to a private island and laugh at people who care about sports anyway.

So I’d need enough to support that.

Nope. I grew up a UofSC fan. Married a Clemson girl. Been an IPTAY member for 53 years. Completely converted after "The Catch" in 1977 when I had to fight my way out of the Stadium because my Wife had on Orange. I've never looked back! Go Tigers!

Yes, I’d take the two million dollars and at the end of the year I’d move to a far away South Pacific island where no one knew me. I’d live in anonymity for the rest of my rich and shame filled life.

So its $2MM for an acting job

Apr 27, 2022, 8:51 AM

I've been doing that for 35 years with my coot wife, feigning indifference whenever they're on tv, but secretly spewing volcanic vitriol inside, and delighting in their failures. And she thinks she knows me. Show me the money!

I bet your sex life sucked on Thanksgiving weekend for the vast majority of those years. You've seen a lot worse than having to act a role for a cool $2MM. You do have a point...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If someone offered you $2 million...

Apr 27, 2022, 9:02 AM

I would consider and then politely decline.

There is one clause that I could adopt:

Coot Fan September Bandwagon Reallocation 30.063.17 subsection 7/8-0.

All coot fans are allowed to swap their fan affiliation after their 1-3 start. Which includes a win over a random North Carolina school followed by a drumming by a FCS school.

Thus Coot fans are allowed to jump to another school's bandwagon before the end of September. Thus the misery of being a coot is only really a month long. But it is a LONG month....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Uh, h3ll yes.

to lose every game they play!!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

At this point in life, retarred and relatively secure, I

Apr 27, 2022, 9:16 AM

wouldn't. But, if such a ridiculous offer had actually been made when I was younger and paychecks were barely stretching to cover bills, I would have had to seriously consider it. Family first, right after God.

Now, we know such an offer could never REALLY be made, since most Coots live in run down house trailers and their most cognizant thought is "Hey, Hold my beer and watch THIS!"

:)

I'd be such a coot that I'd purchase a home on Lake Hartwell, and attend all of Clemson sporting events...just to, you know...quietly "cheer" for whoever Clemson was playing.

That's a coot as I can get.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If someone offered you $2 million...

Apr 27, 2022, 11:22 AM

Oh hell yeah…I love Clemson, but that $2M would allow me to retire earlier and enjoy the things that really matter in life. Some would say, being a Clemson fan is one of the things that matter…and I could accept that…but there are nice folks everywhere and in every fan base…people are people. Plus, my weekends would be free since I would have no reason to travel to or watch games.

Overall, the list of things I wouldn’t do for $2M is pretty short.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: If someone offered you $2 million...

Apr 27, 2022, 11:40 AM

I understand, but one of the favorite things for me to do is attend Clemson home games, and go to away/bowl games. That’s where my friend group meets up, it’s my main social activity. Take that away and I think I would be losing something that money can’t buy

No way possible I can go to that cesspool in Columbia and cheer for that sorry ### team

Re: If offered you $2 MM; stealing line from Tug McGraw

Apr 27, 2022, 11:27 AM

This was a great line from former Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Tug McGraw:

If someone gave me $2MM, then I'd spend it on women and Irish whiskey.

The rest of it I'd waste.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the best quote like that is from the great Irish soccer player

Apr 27, 2022, 4:33 PM

and 1960's playboy Georgie Best. "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered". (birds=women).

I think you chose a dollar figure that is right on the cusp....

Apr 27, 2022, 12:07 PM

$2 million is a nice chunk of change, but not necessarily as "life changing" as some are claiming. I mean, if you're down on your luck, had medical issues that wiped out your life savings, struggling to make ends meet, etc... then sure. Otherwise, $2 million will only pay off your mortgage, allow you to put 3 kids through college with no student loans, and have nicer vacations. Cool, but not enough to make me wear garnet and hobnob with those obnoxious azzholes the rest of my life.

Now, you make it $10 million and I'd have to think about it...

Absolutely. Shouldn’t be too hard. Of course the games will be painful to watch, but I’ll center my fan identity from being part of the SEC and rooting for other teams in the conference like all ##### do. I’ll live off the interest and go to the NFL game of my choosing every week. Work is for suckers.
