QB room is fine next year …

Nov 17, 2021, 2:48 PM

KB lost the job to TL, only after riding out a full season the year before. A not-too-shabby 12-2 I might add…

Dabo is reluctant to change but I think he will make similar moves next season..

What are the odds we land Klubnik and Manning ??

Go Tigers ??

Manning is 16 years old right now. I'd wait and consider things if I were him.

I know they are in different classes.

I should have made them separate posts…

Manning is a 2023 recruit so wouldn't be in the QB room next

Nov 17, 2021, 2:57 PM

year anyway

After seeing our offense this year, I can see why we would be losing offensive recruits. I really don't believe we have a chance with Manning. We need to get this thing turned around or we will return to mediocrity like the coots.

Well for starters the "coots" are far from mediocre...mediocre generally means middle of the pack, it's clear the coots are more "bottom of the barrel". We are and have been close to a decade long dynasty, we're a LONG way from falling to mediocre. This year has been an aberration on many fronts - look at all the schools doing well that normally don't (ie 5/6th year players) thanks to the scamDEMic year. We'll be back to what we've been used to seeing come next year. Now, that's not to say we need to make some coaching changes.

The room is fine, it’s the players and coaches in it that are the concern.***

By the way, didn’t men’s basketball get a new room recently?

Wow... that's harsh.

Yes, Cade will be in the room but who’s behind him?

Nov 17, 2021, 3:14 PM

Assuming he does win the starting position? TP & DJ both could transfer. I know some would like to say Hunter Helms but let’s be honest. We’re not going to the playoffs with him behind center. (I’m not knocking him or his talent) I’m just trying to be honest here.

I would hate to see Taylor another year at the QB position because we’re thin. I doubt that would happen since the plan was to move him to WR this upcoming year though.

I would say the QB room is not “fine” next year until we see how some things play out. It’s way to early to say. We need a reliable back up. IF two of the three (Cade, DJ, or TP) is on the team next fall than I would agree we’re probably “fine”.

Taylor is supposed to be a receiver next season.

Yeah, that's why @Clemson_orange said he'd hate for Taylor to be in the QB room if indeed we're thin. Although, he does throw a pretty ball.

Imo, we'll be ok. We also have Billy and he should make another step next year. Perhaps pass TP. It's also my opinion that TP will transfer... And I have to say I wouldn't blame him.

My bet is TP transfers at the end of the year due to lack of playing time. I can also see DJU transfer to a west coast school.

Nov 17, 2021, 3:14 PM

... but only if our offensive coordinator gets a bit more creative, does away with things that don't work( i.e. Rob Spence bubble screens),doesn't abandon things that are working( like running the freaking ball),gets some better production out of his wide receivers, gets help with some more strength and conditioning, and stops babying his quarterback like he is some fragile heirloom.
( see the comment after the Syracuse game where he was quoted as saying he was seeing some improvement, but he did not want to bench DJ because he didn't want to disrupt his rhythm). That comment alone is "priceless".
And I think Arch is 25 % between LSU, Ole Miss. Tennessee and Clemson)

Not sure that we can agree that we are running the ball well when we averaged 3.1 yards per attempt vs UConn.

True, but didn't our two top running backs sit the game out?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: QB room is fine next year …

Nov 17, 2021, 5:54 PM

They did sit both Kobe and Shipley so they are 100% ready to go this weekend against Wake. I would love to see Shipley run for 175+ yards and be the leader this team needs. DJ is not suited well for that role.
