Should Teams with more 4 & 5-star Players be handicapped..

Jan 3, 2022, 11:03 AM

since the ones that had many more won decisively over those that didn’t in CFP Semis.

When you compare Georgia over Mich and Bama over Cincy the stats of having more 5-star (and even 4-star) players showed up in the final scores & outcomes.

But, since recruiting the best players is what it’s all about, then doesn’t that take away from those staffs & schools that do it much better, or have the resources, or have the history of excelling?

But, but..if it’s all about $ coming into play doesn’t that penalize the smaller or less monied schools?

And, if you take into account the point spreads that Vegas comes up with before each match, then you can see a handicap of sorts has been established even if it’s only on paper and isn’t used to alter or pad the scoreboard for the inferior or losing team.

Check out the Star differences of the 4 teams that played in Semis and you can readily see what’s going on. Staggering!

I'd like to see the numbers from when we played Bama in CFP the first time

Clemson had a bluechip ratio of less than 50%, Bama was 77%

Clemson had a better QB than Bama.

Our BCR was an outlier and we had a true difference maker at by far the most important position

Very interesting. A couple of days ago I posted that 'Bammer doesn't have any 3* and someone scoffed at the idea. But, I wasn't that far off. Everyone knows that Saint Nicky is Saint Nicky because of his players. Does he recruit well? No, he recruits amazingly well. However, at this juncture in college football history, Saint Nicky can probably make a phone call and get a 5*. Every fantastic player out there wants to go to 'Bammer. Jawja not far behind. It's surprising that 'Bammer and Jawja don't win every Natty with this kind of recruiting domination.

Which begs the question.....who did a better job coaching this year, Saint Nicky or Luke Fickell? Imagine if Saint Nicky had Cincinnati's roster and Luke Fickell had 'Bammer's roster. Same can be asked for Smart and Harbaugh.

Stars don't matter, everybody know this....

Jan 3, 2022, 12:02 PM

To answer your ?, No, but if there is no NIL CAP, we will continue to slide down in recruiting the high end prospects.

If stars don't matter, how come no group of five school ever wins a Natty? Or, if stars don't matter, why was Cincinnati so outclassed by 'Bammer? I would say, sometimes stars don't matter because a great coaching staff can develop players and elevate their game. But more often, stars do matter. The bigger, stronger, faster players will win more often than not. Just a harsh reality of life.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic, imo Stars matter most and it's not even close****

This is why Dabo is incredible. He does more with less than some of the others.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The QB that plays the best will win the natty.

Jan 3, 2022, 12:39 PM

Dabo has recruited 2 of the best in recent memory.

The 2015 season was an exception where DW4 outplayed Cocker but didn't win the game.
