Parenting Question is this really a thing?

Mrs Fluff has informed me that there are people who travel like the Pres and VP on separate planes
Do families actually split up for travel like that to prevent everybody from perishing if OBE plane goes down?

I knew a family, actually two, that were vacationing together and took a site seeing tour in Alaska, plane went down, so two complete families perished. Sad.

It was. But do you split up for everything you do?

I don't think it makes sense. If they had taken two planes, one side of the family would have lived with some guilt for the rest of their lives - as in - who decided which side would be on which plane and who picks which kids go? No, thanks.

Thinking more about this, I think the risk is so small

and the benefits from being together are so large, I cannot see this making sense. Seems like there is a huge benefit of having one parent dealing with kids while the other deals with the current situation - whatever that might be - getting food, checking in, etc.

I’m taking junior to litchfield today for a day trip
I just learned about Mrs Fluff’s mild separation anxiety. She knows it’s not a real worry and told me about how the other moms on FB have similar feelings
Then she explains the plane thing. You already pointed out what I said to her about the guilt of being the survivors and is that really how you wanna continue with your life? Also, sent her over the edge when I told her that this is essentially picking a favorite child. She objected. I tried to explain if the family must split up, how do you decide who goes with who? Which kid would you want to raise solo because 1/2 of the family gone?
It’s a weird topic where the plane thing is the extreme

My parents were on the same cruise as them - when I heard that news on the radio I was horrified. I knew it was my parents. Thankful it wasn't, I really feel for that family though.

Very heartbreaking. I believe it was 2013. We were living up there at the time and remember the news.

None of them know my real name or address, but my bloodline will continue in the event of something like this.

He>ll to the Naw, I ain't that crazy.
We travel together almost all the time. My wife has taken Daughter to the BYDTC event. 2020 it was supposed to be the same weekend as Trondossa so I was going to take the boys to Charleston but that obviously didn't work out.

what we do is take separate cars. So I drive drunk and she drives sober, thus keeping the kids out of harms way.
Hope this helps.

with no wills or stipulations for 'what if', had to make a short trip without daughter, we split up. Got back, made arrangements. But that was it.

that's a really paranoid way to live life

but that's how people live today. Fear has absolutely won over the weak-minded.
I'd guess most of these people spend 90% of their waking hours on some social media platform.

I think it's people who have boring lives way of trying to
May 3, 2021, 10:35 AM

get an adrenaline rush and have some excitement. They blow the risk of otherwise mundane activities way out of proportion in order to get the sense of adventure. They'll basically war game going to the grocery store or something as if they're Hannibal crossing the Alps. Current events have legitimized these busy bodies bizarre behavior so they double down on the crazy.
