She doesn’t hit the long ball like some do, but she has a consistent level swing.

When she gets all the way back, she can be a great gap-hitter, driving line drives to the wall. Those are the kind of base hits that spark rallies, because they allow base runners to rattle a pitcher and defense.

that I was “most in awe of” today was watching her and Valerie warm up in the bullpen today . . . everyone knows that the distance from the front of home plate to the front of the “pitching rubber” is 43 feet . . . all pitchers, male or female, no matter the league they play in, begin with short throws . . .

Their warmup session started with both standing, facing one another from a distance of ~25 feet . . . Val, with an abbreviated pitching motion and stride began pumping crisp 3/4 speed tosses towards Aby . . . she handled each as if she was playing catch with a five year old . . . like there was nothing to it . . . Helll, you couldn’t blink or move the glove as fast as the pitches were getting to her . . . I was in awe at how nonchalant and easy she made it look . . .

Aby is as good of a college softball catcher, defensively, as I’ve seen.

standing straight up and when the pitch is coming, she steps forward with her right foot. And the announcers mention it in almost every game she plays.
