The only thing I have to say about today's basketball game

Mar 10, 2021, 6:54 PM

is: Wow, Deja Vu all over again.

I have the exact same feeling right now that I had after our 2008 football game against Weak Florist. The feeling that this basketball program is stuck in mediocrity, and the University is afraid to make a coaching change to make it any better. I can remember all the posts at the time, "Well, who can we get that is any better?"

I had no answer for who we could get that would make it better, but I HAD gotten to the end of the rope where I scribed a long letter to the Clemson President begging for a change to be made. I will not be doing the same thing this time around about the basketball program, for a couple of reasons.

1) I don't think the fanbase at large cares enough about basketball to scream for a change, they have more passion for baseball than basketball. That is a shame, all three are major sports, and there is no reason our University should not try to excel at all three.

2) I don't think that the Powers that Be at Clemson care enough to make a change, either. They seem perfectly content to just glide along with a program that wins when there are extremely low expectations, and then loses as soon as expectations rise. Lest ANYONE forget, that team that beat us today was 3-15 in conference, and 9-16 overall, prior to them tossing us out of the tournament in one and done fashion.

It's just a shame. I almost hope we do get bounced out of the NCAA Tournament one and done as well, because I would hate to see us win a game or two and start hoping again. Because, we all know, as soon as that happens, the bricklayers will show up, and the season is over anyway. Better, as Barney Fife used to say, to "Nip it!, Nip it right now!" :(

Why fire him now? Sadly it’s the best team he’s ever coached!

Sorry but it’s the truth that the blind squirrel adage appears to hold true. Too bad he can’t get them up for a big game.

What I have a hard time understanding is why opposing teams don’t just fold and quit when they know they have to play Clemson. They obviously know that if they play great, get a few breaks etc. Clemson is beatable! What a stupid league
