Dave Doeren on win over Clemson: "The curse is broken"

North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren finally beat Clemson as his team upset No. 9 Clemson in double-overtime on Saturday. Doeren spoke to the media following the contest on the big-time ACC win. "A heck of a ballgame," he said. "So proud of our players and the way that they played tonight. I Read Update »

Coach Doeren is exactly right. We could not get a 1st down and could not stop them. You win or lose on the line of scrimmage and they whipped us on both sides of the ball.

The only thing broken is our offensive scheme.

Dave, you didn’t break anything. We can’t get out of our own way.
I’m okay with a rebuilding year. Just as long as some coaching changes happen. Elliott and Caldwell have earned chopping block positions. We need the OC version of BV. The decline in our scheme has trended downward since Scott left. Our o line play has never been what it should be and has declined as talent has went up.
I was introduced to Death Valley in the 70’s by my father. We attend games together even now. I have suffered through some lean years. I can handle another. The last 11 years have been a dream come true. I’m not signaling the end. I am merely stating I can handle a down year. It happens. Dabo has been the best thing to happen to our program. He will fix it. If he looks beyond former players he is throwing a bone to. Receiver coach may be in trouble. Maybe Dabo takes charge of that group and helps Grisham grow?!
It’s going to be a long, painful season! I will continue to attend games and wear my orange and purple. Go Tigers! Make some changes!

He did say some nice things about Dabo and our program...

And said the stuff with Dabo is all media driven.

Look forward to a beatdown in Death Valley next season...
