The one thing I do not want to hear next year......

Mar 25, 2013, 3:16 PM

I don't want to hear how young we are. Brownell has now had three players transfer. 2 would be Jrs. next year and 1 would be Sr. You can no longer blame OP for our depth problems.

completely. If there is no significant progress next year, then we may be better served by going in a different direction.

does it really matter if we give him the chance or not....

Where are you seeing a chance for progression at?

Mar 25, 2013, 3:24 PM [ in reply to I am a big supporter of CBB, and I agree with your post ]

Looking at what we have coming back and the lack of size I just do not see it.

I am hoping that I am not just relying on blind faith!

Mar 25, 2013, 3:32 PM

I think BB is an excellent game planner, as is evident by how close we were in a lot of games. Offensively, Blossomgame and Coleman will need to contribute a lot. KJ will need to help take over games. But in the end we will need to rely on the bigs that we do have, granted looking at the current roster may not be much, to operate within the system to hold their own.

We will have to wait and see.

Great response

Mar 25, 2013, 4:17 PM

We will be taller at center with Nnoko at 6'10" but little depth if any behind him.

We were close in a lot of games this year and I too hope that the players learn how to close the deal rather than leave the door open at the end of games.

Losing Sullivan we do lose some height but in all reality we lose 1 point per game.

But how many points did we lose

Mar 25, 2013, 5:28 PM

from Booker and Jennings. That is the real issue, we need a committee of players to pick up their averages.

Re: Where are you seeing a chance for progression at?

Mar 25, 2013, 4:48 PM [ in reply to Where are you seeing a chance for progression at? ]

I have only been a tiger fan for 50 some years and man I am as frustrated as anybody is about the state of our program. Brownell is a good coach, I believe that with all my heart. He will have no excuses next year no matter how young a team he has. I see some bright spots for next year, primarily that the two seniors are gone. I don't think either were very strong leaders and our insistence on trying to get it to Booker underneath was hardly successful most of the year. Much of the time the passes were late or our big men didn't make very good attempts to get to the ball. Many of the games it was asking for a turn over without a shot to even try to get it to them. I would much rather shoot from outside and take our chances. I think Roper can be a great shooter and evidently Rooks has great potential as an outside shooter. Those two can open things underneath for Nnoko or whomever may be playing for us underneath. McKenzie and Blossomgame are both more athletic than most anybody we have had in awhile so I look for improvement in at least three positions next year with at least the same quality in the other positions.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

everything is OP's fault

Mar 25, 2013, 3:22 PM

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hate hearing "Jennings was OP's recruit". Does anyone

Mar 25, 2013, 3:23 PM

actually believe that BB would not have recruited Milton Jennings?

He may not have landed him based off what we've seen from his recruiting, but you've gotta be crazy if you think he wouldn't have recruited the guy.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

would you not recruit Booker either?

Mar 25, 2013, 3:27 PM

given the ratings he had as a high school player, he's from SC, and he was a legacy player with a brother having played here?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Of course. BB would've recruited both players. That's why

Mar 25, 2013, 3:29 PM

it's retarded to say "he was OP's recruit". BB would've done the same dang thing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The one thing I do not want to hear next year......

Mar 25, 2013, 3:25 PM

Lack of seniors will still be on OP.

That is a fact. Stanton was never meant as a long term player.

He was brought in due to only having ONE PG on the roster for the next year.

edit due to a mistake.

how does that impact graduation rate that the NCAA

Mar 25, 2013, 3:31 PM

calculates when you bring in a player that you KNOW is only a stop gap solution?

Also

Mar 25, 2013, 3:44 PM

How ###### is it as a coach to bring someone in and them kick them to the curb.

I don't think Brownell actually did this, but the way 117 talks, Brownell basically used Stanton then threw him away.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

if that's what happened it's pretty shady...hopefully it

Mar 25, 2013, 3:45 PM

didn't happen that way.

Re: Also

Mar 25, 2013, 3:47 PM [ in reply to Also ]

lol that is not even close to what I said.

Stanton was brought in to fill a whole and was out recruited in a hurry.

He then left.

Simple as that.

I realize I am talking to one of the biggest haters on here but dont twist my words.

but if you bring in a player who's way in over his head from

Mar 25, 2013, 3:49 PM

day one then you aren't doing a favor to anyone.....maybe he thought he was a better player than he turned out to be....evaluation has to be tough.

Agree

For some reason 117 wants to fault OP for Brownells first class

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are correct, and with those guys he won an NCAA

Mar 25, 2013, 3:38 PM

Tourney game, which is something OP was unable to accomplish.

Do you guys not realize that Brownell would not have even made the tourney had it not expanded that year. Even so, he made it to the final 64, same as OP.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do you not realize that

Mar 25, 2013, 4:36 PM

if a frog had wings he wouldn't but his butt every time he jumps.

Fact is the field did expand, fact his he did make it, fact is his win counts as a tourney win. I don't care who's players it was, he was the coach and they used his scheme.

Will BB get it done at Clemson, I don't know....but I'm not going to sell him short either. He gets another year!!

Andre Young was not a PG. He was a SG in a small PG's body.

Mar 26, 2013, 11:28 AM [ in reply to Re: Re: The one thing I do not want to hear next year...... ]

Hence why we struggled last year.

We haven't had a true PG since Stitt left.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: The one thing I do not want to hear next year......

Mar 25, 2013, 3:41 PM

Agree that without progress next season we need to start looking, but your reasoning is just plain wrong. The transfers up until now were directly a result of OP leaving and he is the reason our depth sucks. With that said Brownell's players are now experienced and we should begin to see improvement.

BB beat UAB, OP lost games against teams like Villanova and Mizz. Next argument.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: You are correct, and with those guys he won an NCAA

Mar 25, 2013, 3:58 PM

You mean that game where he lost to a 12 Seed Nova team after blowing a massive lead.

Oh yeah that was a great showing from OP.

the only time Brad has won, is with OPs players

Mar 25, 2013, 4:11 PM

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg2005_majors_champ.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-xtiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And BB has only gone as FAR as OP at Clemson

Mar 25, 2013, 5:31 PM

BB has never gone FURTHER than OP did in the NCAAs at Clemson.

He may have won a game, but it was a play-in game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Re: You are correct, and with those guys he won an NCAA

Mar 25, 2013, 4:09 PM

Yea Nova a team from the Big East not a play in game against a Sun Belt team. We haven't sniffed the tournament since that "monumental" victory over UAB.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Re: You are correct, and with those guys he won an NCAA

Mar 25, 2013, 4:11 PM

Yes because if anything the tournament has shown us the past few years is that teams from non major conferences are absolute garbage.....

Also learn how to properly reply.
