The nature of liberals/progressives

Aug 26, 2021, 4:55 PM

In general, they're idealists. They operate off of emotion. If they're intentions are good, then they believe the outcome will likewise be good. They can't acknowledge unrequited evil like the Taliban or ISIS. They think that they're just victims and should be understood rather than eliminated. They think that because they have "power," that everyone will automatically bow to them and do what they say - whether domestic policy or international. They think they're smarter than everyone else and therefore, why wouldn't we unquestioningly follow their lead?

That's what we're seeing right now. They thought/think they can talk to the Taliban and come to a gentleman's understanding. But they aren't gentlemen. They thought/think that because we're the US, and they have the presidency and Congress, that the Taliban would acquiesce to their wishes. Wouldn't surprise me if we've tried to bribe them into cooperating, in which case they'll just take our money or whatever and then continue to whatever they want.

They trust everyone except their enemies, but their only enemies are domestic ones who can threaten their hold on the reins of power. Taliban, ISIS, Russia, China, are all potential friends who can be bought, just like they buy power.

They're going to learn that it doesn't work that way. And they will lose the House and Senate in 2022, and the presidency in 2024, but not before costing the lives of many more Americans and allies, and further damaging our economy and world standing. But hey - they mean well and their tweets (except when referencing conservatives - their domestic enemy) are all really nice and sensitive. That counts for something right?

At the current trajectory, they will absolutely lose

House/Senate and Presidency.

Lucky for the leftists in here, the Republicans won't do diddlydick that actually hews to conservative ideals while they're briefly back in power. I've seen this movie too many times.

Lest you forget they're excellent at voter fraud.

It's amazing how similar the arguments are from both sides

Aug 26, 2021, 5:36 PM

in characterizing the other.

"They operate off emotion"
"They think that because they have "power" that everyone will bow to them"
"They think they're smarter than everyone else"
"They think we are their domestic enemy"
"They trust everyone except for their enemies, but their only enemies are domestic ones who threaten their power."

Both sides make these exact same arguments against the other. I don't know if it's a projection or not, but it's interesting nonetheless. And note, I'm not excluding myself from doing the same thing.

I've commented on this fact before and, each time, it's argued against as being true which always makes me chuckle with how absurdly helpful it is to my argument.

As for your argument, it's pretty clear you haven't been paying attention to our foreign policy for the last 20+ years. The situation you describe is one of the few things that is politically bipartisan. Our policy in Afghanistan, especially.
