Like Dabo famously said, "just win". If our team wins, there is nothing the talking heads can do to keep Clemson out of the playoffs. Let them talk about how we're overrated... please let them talk about how we're overrated. Nobody drives the ROY bus like Dabo. Go Tigers, spot the dag-gum ball, already.

I love it when an idiot that works for one of those networks proves just how stupid about sports, and sports teams they truly are. And hopefully it helps for them to be shown a one way door out for saying such stupid chit only bc of their hate!!!

Revisit this on October 2nd and November 6th. Hopefully we will be 9-0 on November 6th and the talk will shift to underrated. You are nothing until you are something.

We've been "something" for a long time, and we haven't been "nothing" in my lifetime. Now, there have been times when we didn't seem to be all that much, but always something.

so this link says Clemson is 4th in the AP...4th in the coaches poll...and CBS has us all the way down at 5th.
So someone who places us 1 spot above where CBS put us drops us into the "overrated" catagory?

The CBS rankings are a poll just like the AP

They poll all of their CFB writers. This article was written by one person, not by a CBS hive mind.

Yeah this whole thing doesn't bother me from a ranking standpoint. Other polls had us 4th - CBS had us 5th. Oh wow. This bothers me from a writing standpoint. The whole 'but 4th seems a bit much' then ranking us 5th?? Geez drop us to 10th or something like 21st - really be useful to fuel up the ROY bus. Oh then to say neither Wes nor Street had called plays at FBS level. Granted TNET pointed out Iowa State. But didn't Streeter have to call plays vs OSU when Tony had to stay home with Covid? I mean play-calling in a CFP game is doing it at the highest level.

This is WAY more tame than us, interestingly

Y'all we really can't handle this well it feels like. Again though? Really? SEC conspiracy theories & ACC hate? C'mon Clemson fam. This year's gonna be LIT!
This is not even that much of a hateful article outright, albeit for some reason it's not linked nor is the author cited (which is just weird is all).
There's a reason why Clemson is mentioned in the headline BECAUSE of its unprecedented success... but it's like we can't stand it anyway, know what I mean?
Still, WE are vastly more critical of Clemson's issues lately it feels like, particularly at QB & the o-line (not mentioned in the article), & while I think the coordinator changes are good things, it's understandable to have questions, particularly with how exceedingly rare those kinds of changes have been here at Clemson since Coach Swinney was hired, you know?
Bottom line, the LAST place I want to be ranked is #1 anyway! Don't let preseason polls, of all things, trigger your anger. Chin up; just one more week!

I tend to agree with you but I think the bottom line is that you are who they say you are until you prove them wrong. We have all kinds of potential; now we need to go prove that potential can execute on the field.

I'd rather they underestimate us than keep feeding us all that "rat poison" about how great we are. Keep expectations low and execution high. I think we are going to have a great year and surprise some folks!

Well, the article is not too far fetched. We do have new Coordinators and the QB play is this biggest question. Our D will be great again .. but can’t carry the offense too as we saw last year. We can use these doubts from others to fire up the ROY bus for motivation - to prove them wrong on the field. Can’t wait to do so and Go Tigers !!!!

Nuts to low expectations. Low expectations is counting votes off the bottom of the top 25.
We haven't seen low expectations since at least 2014 and I don't want to go back.
High expectations, high accountability and may Lady Luck be gentle on our tendons and ligaments.

What, exactly, did we see in the CheezIt Bowl?

We beat a team that finished 7-6 by 7 pts. Our offense scored 13. DJ averaged 5.8 YPA with 0 TDs and a pick, and the offense as a whole averaged 4.3 YPP.
I think that game was in line with what we saw the rest of the season - great defense and very bad offense.
I guess it showed that our defense didn't fall off a cliff in one game without Venables, but that's about it.

its pretty simple, his 2 overrated picks are ACC teams.

we he doesn't get in all this is that if clemson wins their games they'll have perceived big wins over Notre Dame, NCSU, Miami who are all on those big board top 25's. I'd imagine they woudl all have good records and will be quality oppponents. Alot of people think Louisville will surprise with their QB this year. WE end the year with ND, UL, UM, and SCAR. Then an ACC champ appearance opponent. Might be a rematch with UM. It all depends on losses and to whom and when but if we beat those opponents with maybe a loss/possibly two (depending on other teams records) we will easily be in the top 4 with a conference title against a ranked opponent.
If we have 115th ranked offense again then you can forget about any of it.

The new coordinators line is bull. Saban has new ones every year. The offensive production is the thing. This is a critical season for Clemson and perception on the national stage. Tigers need to run the table through the ACC championship game and make the playoff. A Natty would be wonderful!

Exactly!!!
It is absolutely fair to say our offensive performance last year does not support a top-4 ranking this year, but the coordinator thing is total crap. Both coordinators were here last year. Both contributed to their respective coordinators. Not a concern for me at all.
This is where the conspiracy theories come from, though. Alabama has had new coordinators nearly every year of Saban’s tenure. Do they get called overrated? Never.

CBS Sports thinks Utah is a National Championship contender. That should be case-and-point to ignore these opinions.

"The Tigers are starting from scratch at two key coaching positions.”
Hmmmm……so 2 on staff Coaches, working in the same system with the same Head Coach and many of the same players, get promoted and that’s “from scatch”?
So what is it called when a New Coach comes in from the outside, working with completely different Coaches and players and in a different system?
I think this Bozo has knowingly and willfully put forward a false premise. Maybe he’s starting a new job from scratch?

Major question mark at QB Can the OL protect and create any running lanes? Are the WRs going to do anything? How is the new secondary going to perform?
These arent new questions. Its a lot to fix in a short amount of time, thats all.
