It's more then a few obscure tweets. Espn is reporting it was confirmed by Maryland officials that negotiations are in progress. Rutgers would be 14.

And go back to 12, then when I'm told no is ask who is Marylands replacement?
Also the big east just needs to hang it up. Big east, east and west divisions what a joke, and already losing a member of that plan.

Penn State is staying and not considering the ACC. You either go for 12 teams or 14. If the Big Ten is taking Maryland AND Rutgers, they are looking to go to 14, and that requires PSU to stay.

It all hinges on them being able to negotiate the 50 mill.

buyout down. If the ACC caves, it sets a really bad precident.
On the other hand, it could be a cancer to the league to have a school that wants out obviously trapped.
And on the subject of Louisville....NEVER!! Do you realize they have the worst APR in all of D-1 football? And that half their team comes from Juco and prep school? Trading a founding, land-grant state University for a city, commuter school is a bad trade.

The ACC has no reason to negotiate on it.

Plus, I could see UCONN coming over (basketball) or USF.
Football wise, USF might not be a bad team to consider, but it would hurt Clemson in recruiting.

mil for this to happen. I was just reading last week about how much debt the Maryland athletic department is in after major renovations to their athletic facilities coupled with huge attendance drops in football.

Why would the ACC take usf? We already have the Florida market wrapped up. Need to go to an area that we have no footprint.

In recent years no school has paid the full payout amount. 50 million gets negotiated down to 25 mil.
Md and fsu refused to vote on the buyout amount.
