"Democratic" confidant. Sure. Epstein curated powerful people, period, regardless of political affiliation, and he fed them underaged girls like candy and in so doing compromised them.

The only reason that Little Black Book of Ghislaine's hasn't ever seen the light of day is because powerful, powerful people on both sides of the aisle stand to lose big if it did...which makes it a Mexican standoff. And so it hasn't. If one side thought they'd gain advantage by exposing the other they'd have long-since done it.

Nobody seems interested. Gosh, I wonder why?

You literally cannot seem to see sin when it's being committed by somebody you perceive as being in your tribe. It creates a blind spot that makes you almost a comedy figure representation of what people perceive (in eye-rolling fashion) as "MAGA", a bunch of dumb angry peasants waving their pitchforks and torches around.

I mean, dude. How do you just disregard this? It takes deliberate, willful blindness to somehow not see this photo, or the dozens like it.

I honestly think the challenge of the next generation is going to be how to figure out how to understand and patch around the power of stupid.

There's always been this really-not-so-nice instinct in the human psyche to form a tribe, circle the wagons, protect against all outsiders, and then, when you're strong enough, surge forth and kill the mother$%^#ers...and oh, yeah, take what they have because they're scumbags and they deserve it.

That form-a-warband tribal instinct is as old as time, and it rewards self-promoting narcissistic sociopaths. Every Viking warlord ever was really good at beating his chest, playing Mega Alpha Male, and marching his clan off to raid, rape, loot, and ###### goats. You looked at the Romans, various generals would do deathmatches to stage themselves self-promoting parades and celebrations upon returning back from war (often regardless of how they'd actually done.) It went on and on, countless times. More recently, we've seen Hitler, Mussolini, Franco, Juan Peron, Putin...and of course, Trump.

The problem with all this social media and the unrestricted access it created was, it gave the populist rabble-rousers a platform again...and they're duly stirring up the angry, the disaffected, and the just plain mean...and trying to point them at others again. The "who" doesn't really matter, just so long as somebody's the Bad Guy, and somebody deserves to Get Killt.

They're going to keep coming - and getting worse - until we dispel the ability of these populists to raise what amounts to tribal warbands. Because as we've clearly seen, there's plenty of people still plenty susceptible to what they peddle.
