The level of depression

The level of depression On the fighting gamecocks forum is epic this morning. It’s way worse than the last 4-5 years.

I was a bit surprised that I didn't see any of the typical 'Wait till next year,' comments. They are indeed without hope.

That's one of those statements that causes me to think 'I should have thought of that?'

If we've beaten the "next year" out of them that might indeed be an all time low

Weird because this was a better than expected season for them.
They could be decent next year and good in a year or two.
Transfer portal is a huge advantage for schools like USC that can't recruit well but play in a good conference.
They can get players on the way up and on the way down.

It's always a tenuous situation there.

Kind of like playing Jenga with Michael J. Fox, one might say. You can outwardly see a difference in Beamer's team vs. the Muschamp teams, but if the SEC is strong and they end up 4-8 or 5-7 next year, the outcry will be deafening. I doubt they give him the kind of time we gave Dabo, because Dabo was able to do a lot of great things in spite of having to face those loaded Spurrier teams. Not sure that being in the SEC affords them the same luxury, to be honest.

attainable. Do we really trust Tennessee to do anything positive? Kentucky surely has a low ceiling.
My question for their future is how deep to the Florida problems run and is Napier really cut out of the biggest of big time football. If he is and can get the cancers cut out quickly enough that is bad news for the Gamecocks.

If Tennessee can get a QB to replace Hooker, they'll be OK.

Josh Heupel has actually done a good job given the fact that UT was all but shut down. Their entire program and administration was a complete shidshow for a LONG time. They have a good chance to be somewhat relevant...certainly ahead of the coots. Kentucky is fine with Stoops, but now his name is the one the media is having a feeding frenzy over regarding Oklahoma. If he leaves, UK steps back. Florida might not be in as bad a shape as you'd think though. Their issues WERE coaches. Muschamp just wasn't a head coach and Mullen just didn't care to do anything more than bide his time for an NFL gig. The real question is how will the alignment change when Texas and Oklahoma get to the SEC? From a pure geography sense, you'd say Alabama and Auburn move east.

good that he gets plucked away from Tennessee. Maybe even back to Oklahoma where he played?
