I’ve been all over the map in regards to wing flavors.

I’ve had flamin, blazing, insane, jalapeño cheddar (which are amazing), bbq, bbq gold, at least 17 different variations of “Asian” flavors, garlic, garlic parm, teriyaki (not Asian oddly), teriyaki hot, plain, Nashville hot, variations of bourbon glazed, smoked, smoked hot, smoked bbq, lots and lots of wings and every variation of Buffalo wing imaginable. I love wings. But at the end of the day, I have learned one single thing.
Lemon and pepper belongs on fried chicken wings. Absolutely a match made in heaven!!!

their best flavor. But those top notch wings from 20+ years ago have been lapped by actual BBQ places in the last decade. Turns out, you actually gotta smoke a wing if you want it to compete for Best Of awards.

but I'm not sure I would say that a wing has to be smoked to be really good. In fact, I would say that the best wings are not smoked.
Of course, everyone has their own preferences and has the right to be incorrect if they disagree with mine.

I had a life-changing chicken wing experience several years back when Minero first opened. They grilled wings over charcoal then tossed them in a paper sac with Valentina hot sauce. Straight out of the bottle. It is divine. I’ve made them over and over since, and the only change I’ve made is to add some cue rub and put a little smoke to them and render out even more fat to crispify even more.
