Dabo is Head Coach

Nov 29, 2022, 12:11 PM

Dabo has made it perfectly clear that he is the Head Coach and He (not the media, not the fans) decides who plays. I think the best thing we can do is trust his judgement and move on. He has proven himself to be a winner. We simply have to trust his judgement.

NO.

Last year was injury ridden and a tsunami of unfortunate events.

This year he's sticking with the guy he believes to be the best chance at winning. I may not agree and feel like a change at QB is warranted but I'm also not at practice.

No. Look at the history of elite dynasties.

Compare them to Dabo's tenure. Use a database. Find all the examples of a dynastic run that didnt involve a #10-15 ranking a couple years. Then do the math and figure the percentage of time that's happened for the top 30 programs.

Complaining about being in elite territory is a sign of mental illness.

Literally NOBODY on this website has any justification to question Dabo's judgement. We are 10-2 and its a BAD year.

OK Dabo has a great record. But let’s look at history as you suggest. Bowden was coaching in an ACC with a good FSU, a good Miami and a good VaTech. The ACC was pretty loaded for a minute. But Miami fell apart followed by FSU. By Dabo’s time, only VaTech remained. Then a couple years later, VaTech fell apart. That’s when Dabo became “elite”. I’ve tried to defend the ACC for years, but I’ve had trouble keeping a straight face. The conference is terrible and has been for a long time. That makes a difference. It drastically impacts the chance of having a 1 or 2 loss year when your conference stinks and you still play FCS games. That’s just the truth. And even with the crappy conference, if NC State make’s an easy FG, no natty. Brice doesn’t make a clutch 4th down throw, no natty.
We beat the few good teams we played because we had fantastic QB’s and receivers. There was no offensive genius involved. It was superstar throwing the ball somewhere near other superstars. That’s all they needed to do.

That’s not going to work anymore because we’ll be using prospects while everybody else is using proven players from the portal. Even so, there little chance of Clemson ever going back to “where we were” because we don’t play the same level of competition.

I was told by TNet to trust Swinney because he would fix the problems with program. Instead, he's doubled down and lashing out at anyone who acknowledges that there are issues. I expect he won't make a single adjustment in the off-season. So no, you don't have to trust his judgement.

Dabo need to look at team for the year I think the play calling and QB play was average or below average all year some games the Defense was soft my big problem was offense was average all year no big plays need to hire Jeffery Scott back to help out on offense and recivers on the offense not many of them are getting open thanks GO TIGERS

Like he said, we either let him coach exactly the way he wants, without interference or criticism - or fire him. I don’t think many are ready to fire him, so he can do whatever he wants and he’s made it clear that he knows it. He’s untouchable right now.

The attitude change isn’t winning him any friends though. Even Mrs Noodle, the biggest sunshine pumping Dabo fan ever, said “his whole attitude is different. I don’t like the way he’s talking.”

The more he dismisses the fans/media and proclaims his program to be 100% his and nobody elses opinions matter, he is quickly losing a lot of the goodwill he has built up over the years. It’s sad to see.

Hopefully he’ll find a way to get things right. Starting with another ACC championship.

Everyone who has ever worked a job knows that they are accountable to someone for the end of year performance. You have to explain what you will do different next year if there was a mistake and/or get to have some kudos for the things that went well.

Why is this different? Why cant we cant question anything or discuss options? This is a message board.

Nobody is arguing about Dabo being the head coach…..now DJ being the starting QB for 2 long years now is another issue ……. How many times does a one guy get to screw it up out there and still get to keep his starting job….not good!

I think it is perfectly fine to question his judgment given the circumstances. Stating that one knows better than Dabo what is wrong and what should be done - well, that is both uninformed AND arrogant.
