5-star players having committed to & played for Clemson basketball since the time of the discovery of hoops.
Seems the poster(s) felt maybe only ONE 5-star player had graced our court which JK then named from memory being one Milton Jennings.
Dang, Seems to me Skip Wise, Grant, Tree & others would have been 5-star but maybe not.
Stiil, it's crystal clear what Brad Brownell needs to do..Recruit at all expense a 5-star player or two. I know, I know it's difficult to get a 5-star to come here but thankfully Dabo did.
Hey, Duke has an entire bench of those wonderful game-winning & program changing creatures and surprisingly they play in the smallest, darkest, oldest of arenas in America and it's packed, loud and has Natty banners galore on its walls!
Amazing and glad Dabo went out (in our airplane) and hunted down, begged & signed some 5-stars.
Problem partially solved~

You mean Spiller who was signed by Dabo? I know TB signed defensive five stars, but Clemson has always gotten offensive five stars, regardless of the coach.

Danny Ford once said if you don't go out and recruit them, then you will never get them. You have to miss out on a lot in the beginning but once you get one in others will follow.

Solid stretch for Clemson basketball.
76th average national end of season ranks trailing those.
Outside of the Shyatt span, that's a Cobbox reference of a finish considering the ballplayers coming here.
With the right coaches Duke football has gone bowling like mad there for stretches. Hmmm.

Yes. From 1936-1960, the Blue Devils were ranked 15 times, 5 times in the top 10. Don't think our Bball program has come close to this. Maybe Judge should rethink the compariSon.

I’d love to hear it.
I chose Duke because they are a basketball school who is historically bad at football, and football examples are sometimes needed here to make a point.
It’s not a perfect example though, because even Duke football has historically had more success than Clemson basketball.

They aren’t interested because there is no track record of success or player development. We don’t put anyone in the NBA. And the style of play does not suit this generation of recruits.
Every single one of those things is a result of coaching.

Or they can just accept that they will be a program mired in mediocrity and live with it. Stop pretending that they are on the cusp of greatness every year. You don't need to pay top-dollar for a mediocre coach recruiting mediocre players and running a mediocre program.

Yeah, he was a proven up and comer and brought a 'can do' into Texas. When a program is down like Texas was and a fighter comes to town to start anew it's going to stir up some added support and enthusiasm.
Texas football has recruited up the charts for decades yet mostly lacklusters save for that one big year. The in between is a meandering blegh.

McDonald's All-American who went to Clemson in 1985 or 1986 and never lived up to expectations. But in his defense I heard he has serious shoulder issues. Repeated dislocations. It was a bummer for him and the fans.

he dislikes recruiting, "the rec. trail", in homes, etc. I would not extend a coach that I knew felt such disdain for recruiting. Still, they(bot) were (foolishly on CBB's part)gifted this foretelling information some time ago but continue to extend.
