one am glad the ACC is sticking to its guns about Notre Dame having to be an all sports member. What on earth good does Notre Dame do any conference if football isn't included. Talk about another mouth to feed. Article says Notre Dame would accept an ACC invite for all but football if the ACC would agree. I guess so. I hope the
Big 12 is the only conference willing to put up with this BS. Let them become the new Big East in that regard not us. Here's the link:

I didn't read it, but ND has less value as each year

passes. They haven't been good in 20 years and the catholic army that follows it is aging. They'll still get into most leagues, but I think they are overvalued.

If the ACC wants to be considered in the same stance as other major conferences then Swofford and the commissioners better recognize ND wanted to join last Summmer except for the refusal on partial membership. The ACC needs ND and at the moment the Irish are clearly looking at their options. Because of the BCS proposal ND will ultimately need membership in a conference so the Big 12 is making a strong push to gain their membership.

The ACC continues to believe ND will come calling, but if Swofford gets "cute" he will be regretting his smug attitude. The next two weeks will tell us all quite a bit about conference expansion including if the Big 12 offers Clemson and FSU. ND will be an important component of the entire outcome.

Go Tigers!

What good is Notre Dame without their football program?

Jun 21, 2012, 10:48 PM

If they don't join for football, they are just bloodsuckers like they were to the Big East. They get in line for ACC contract payout which they don't increase without bringing their football. They also get in line for ACC bowls even though they didn't join for football.

They talk about academics, but they don't care that their non-football student-athletes play in Big East, Big 12 or what. Notre Dame is the biggest money ##### in all of college football. They will also ##### out to any conference for some of their dough, but not bring their football to the table.

The hope is...

that when ND's NBC contract ends in 2015, that the conference that gets them now will get their football program. This would help the conference's TV contract/revenue. I dislike ND and like to watch them loose, but I think this is what the Big 12 and ACC are thinking.

If that were the case, I could see it, but I wouldn't hold

my breath for Notre Dame ever joining in football. Then you are stuck with them just bloodsucking. It would maybe be worth taking a chance if we could get their football in 2015, but I just don't see them ever joining in football.

Now I would love to have them as an all sports member, no doubt about that.

Speculation is that the ACC will bend over backwards to...

Jun 22, 2012, 12:25 AM

get ND "in". That includes killing the mandatory 9 game conference schedule so that ND has "room" for their "rival" games. The 8 game conference schedule will also be popular with the current ACC members (aka CLEMSON). Swofford NEEDS a school like ND.... after all, what quality Football Schools are left that also meet the ACC's "school profile"? As for the NBC Contract... ND is "special" and maybe they could keep it till it runs out. I guess whenever ND plays, it would be on multiple networks at the same time. But we still need a "mate" for ND.... who would that be? I like SCAR, but everybody seems not to like that idea. UConn? (socialists and yuppies).... Rutgers? get ready for big hair and Snooki... Appalachian State? Why not, its kinda isolated, but so is Ames, Iowa... I always thought USF was a good idea..... ask WVU?, say we're sorry that we dissed them the first time?

If it takes a Notre Dame to get rid of the 9-game conference

Jun 22, 2012, 2:40 AM

football slate then Hail Mary, Hail Grace. Whatever it takes, I'm all for it. On the other hand, any league willing to take them in without the whole shebang shows weakness and desperation. Is the Big XII really that sad that they're going to go Big East by taking ND's basketball and other sports on a hope and a prayer for football? Not a sign of strength.
