sooner or later. It gets involved in everything.
Once everyone around the US is aware that their team has no chance to get into the playoffs because the SEC will have half the 4 slots, they will let their congressperson know.
Congress will then step in and make it fair, probably an 8 team, conference winner type playoff.

That is silly. Why hasn't congress gotten involved to force some conference to take east Carolina?

I would not mind going to 8 teams, as long as it is the best 8 teams, meaning no restrictions on the number of participants from any conference. Having said that, I'm fine with the method produced this week.
