The goal line pick (3rd)

Nov 13, 2016, 2:07 AM

DW4 has been money all season and last year when we needed him the most. 2 late scoring drives to take the lead vs UofL at home. Late go head drive in Tallahassee to win the game. Late scoring drives vs Auburn, Troy, NCST. Now we shouldn't have needed them at all if they played to their potential. So DW4 has a reputation of being clutch late in games. So him having the ball with a run pass option was a good play call DW4 should've attacked the line of scrimmage more to force the defender to move up or just run it in himself. DW4 is smarter and more experienced that to try to force it in that situation. Just a bad choice on his behalf but it happens. Now the coaches could have just called a running play to eliminate that risk but we barley got in running the last one in. The coaching staff fully trust DW4 decision making and it has worked well up until this point. As a fan I do as well he has brought to new heights and hasn't let us down until then. I like being aggressive with play calling on both sides of the ball so you have to call plays to win the game not call plays not lose the game. DW4 does seem to be over thinking a lot of things leading to late and behind throws also seems to be aiming the ball instead of letting it fly leading to over and under thrown balls. Defiantly think some of it has to do with poor o line play not trusting the pocket and getting hit to much which seems to have led into the reductions of qb runs which takes away the biggest threat of his game. I understand DW4 and the coaches trying to protect him from getting hit. But it is a huge part of the system we run imo we need another package with KB or Wayne running wildcat when we need a yard or two in key moments of the game when Watson has ran it hasn't been with the same conviction imo. Maybe That's why he didn't try to run it in there. Whatever the case maybe I'm still glad he is a Tiger. So the play call there was actually a good call with the multiple options and the amount of pressure it put on the D. Watson last year probably goes air born and gets in. He has earned the respect and privilege to protect himself if he choses to imo. This is the same man that played against SC with a torn ACL so he could end the streak for his teamates and the fans when he didn't have to play at all. Then came back off that injury and took us to the National Championship game. I think if we get back there he will play all out and play with no regrets to win a natty for us.

I think you summed it all up in your last sentence.
"I think if we get we get back".
Shows a lot of confidence!
Then again I'm thinking we don't.
