that UNC's new turf field had a Crown on it. Looks like the coaches would have saw this and worked the middle better. I remember back in the day, the Crown at Death Valley was quite high. Visiting QB's had problems LOL

I think it was Tommy Bowden that had it cut down. The crown was a good thing for the option game since the running backs would be running down hill. Not so much now.

When that offensive line starts playing better you will see more passes down the middle. Ask the coach about that.

Not buying it. Not on artificial turf.

I will buy, the turf did seem to be very slippery and it only seemed to be that way against Clemson players, accept when someone got tackled and they kept sliding across the field like it was real wet. turf. Just a thought, but i'm wondering if UNC had special traction shoes and we didn't for that particular type of field?

One other thing is I'm wondering if they put water on it before the game to cool it down a bit? Saw where it was 150 degrees on the field according to the just posted T-net article.

The field being leveled 16 years ago had nothing to do....

with improving the quality of play or opening up the passing and/or running game. If you attended the Clemson-GT game on Sept. 14, 2002, it rained about 2"-3" before the game and we had heavy rain during the Va. home game in Sept. of 2001 (I think this was the date). These games prompted Clemson to do something to save the football field from all of the damage it suffers during heavy rains (or rains within 24 hours of a game). They came up with an interior drainage system that employs about 24" of clean washed gravel and 4" slotted rain piping on a grid through the stone layer) which provides for internal drainage. This allowed them to level the field.

If you remember the Notre Dame game (the 2009 TCU game was similar with rain throughout the game as was GT game in 2017), there was never any water collecting on the field and no damage the grass at the end of the game. I remember watching the NCSU Notre Dame game a year later during Hurricane Matthew and there was about an inch of water on the filed throughout the game and players were sliding every where.
