I told my wife that CK had just earned a helmet sticker from College GameDay Final. They refused to mention his 383 yards and 7 TD came in two quarters of action. I stayed up late to watch just to see Cade earn his first espn helmet sticker. They gave a QB with less yards and TD’s in four quarters a sticker. If you read most of their stories about CK, they never mention it was one half of action. The ACC disrespect is real. If he played in the ESecPN they would have proclaimed Heisman voting over. SMH.

Agree. If he's truly had an epiphany, he'll quickly earn the respect of the writers. No doubt it was a magical performance. And he did get some national attention, so it wasn't like his performance was totally dismissed.
He earns a helmet sticker imo, if he has similar numbers against nc st. Even if it's 3 quarters of play.

He did not play poorly against UGA, so his performance against them should not be discounted. Aaron Murray's breakdown of that performance was actually pretty complimentary. Opening up the offense, like against App State, will probably do more for the perception of pundits than what we have been running and give Cade a chance to shine.

I tend to agree with you. We've waited a long time for his "break out" game. Now, he just has to show that this is who he really is as a QB and continues to show it on the field. All opinions don't change overnight based on one tremendous half of football against lesser competition.
Having said that, I do think it was a turning point that gets him going for the rest of the season.

I think the underlying argument is not P5, but P2. The media’s agenda is to prop up their prime leagues and diminish the other P5/4 leagues.

Put them in a power 5 conference for last 5 years and see where they rank. People can make stats show what they want. Trust app st doesn’t appear very good this year. We played an exceptional game. I think we probably win out our schedule until acc championship. But from then on we can’t make very many mistakes in games.

If we don't win that ACC this year, the season will be a disappointment to me. I know, high expectations but my thoughts. Miami looks good right now, but expect to see them fall apart before seasons end - let them have the portal players that will crumble as a unit once they encounter adversity.

I agree in part.
I don't know what options we've had the last few years but our performances over the more recent seasons sees us being less relevant than any of us would really want to admit. So, there's that.
On the other hand, it was 2 quarters! That was an amazing performance especially in light of more recent outings! But I remember a number of players not getting deserved recognition because the commentators seemed to not realize that Dabo makes substitute as quickly as he can thus seeing fantastic performances appearing as being less spectacular.

I don't think it is. We've seen Cade play 17 games now. Of those 17 games, two have been really good performances, and the other 15 have ranged from average to outright terrible.
Most people are going to want to see more than one great performance before assuming Cade is THAT player, and not the one that stunk it up in his prior 15 starts.

Helmet stickers (as useless as they are) are allegedly for great individual performances. In no universe was CK’s App St performance not in that category. No sure I can recall any instances of placing HS performances in a larger context.

I thought it may have a chance. I just sat back and ate popcorn waiting for the responses. I agree that we need to see Cade do this against a higher caliber team. I would also argue that Nancy Tate may not be as good as App St. App St was the top vote getter for a top 25 team not ranked prior to Clemson game.

Didn't App State receive votes in the polls before we stomped them? Meaning they were around the Top 30 teams out there? Weren't people picking the upset because of that? I see a lot of people talking out of both sides of their mouth on this. No one is claiming we're world beaters, but that win is more solid than a lot of the wins we'll get within the conference.

CupcaKe. Beck could've had 10 TDs on Saturday vs Tennessee Tech if the coaches wanted him to. Dabo wanted to stick out his chest and say look at our DOMINATION smh. You mention ACC disrespect lol.
CK will do the same thing all year vs the weak ACC schedule. I'm ready to see him vs. a top 10 opponent again. Unfortunately there is no one on the schedule that will even sniff the top 10.
You'll be saying the same thing on Saturday afternoon when Clem destroys Nancy St. A team that a mid SEC team just absolutely destroyed 51-10.

Agreed. When someone does something for the first time in 25 years in a single half, they deserve a helmet sticker. App. State was no cream puff even though they're not power five. Luckily I caught the segment right when it started and didn't watch the rest of game day. Screw em!

CK had an awesome game against App State, but it’s just one game against lower to mid tier talent and he had one bad game against the #1 team in the nation. The body of work isn’t big enough yet to accurately pass judgement. If CK is consistent going forward and can replicate the good performances, he will get noticed for it.

Love the people in here saying App St isn't all that. Who knows how good they will be this year? But let's not forget Appalachian state's history of knocking off power five teams. And no I'm not talking about going back to Michigan. Just in recent years they have knocked off Texas A&M and our little brothers in Columbia U of SC. That's right, SEC SEC. They also went to overtime with Penn State a few seasons ago. In fact one thing that they always do is show up and give a good account for themselves even when they do lose to a top team. And yet they got taken to the woodshed Saturday night. Stop doing ESPN's work for them!

I pointed that out in a thread on another Clemson website. I can’t say that all of their analyst treat us badly, but it does seem to be a theme amongst the people that produce a few of their college football TV shows.
The good news is that the team has 10 more chances to show they are a very good team and perhaps one more chance after that if they are able to play in the conference championship.

So, I would take those helmet stickers with a grain of salt. CK deserves to be mentioned for sure, but they are talking about Clemson being "for real" and such. I don't think ESPN hates Clemson as much as some of y'all think. A few do, but Joey and Herbie like Clemson for sure.
