You know it's a big deal when major companies

decide to shut down for the game.

My company is paying employees to show up for their shift, shutting lines down and bringing in big screens to show the game, and serving pizza and wings. All so they can ensure that they can start up right after it's over.

We are a major supplier to BMW. BMW is doing something similar, and so is another major supplier in Alabama. Yeah, it's a big freakin' deal!

BMW is slowing production to allow employees to watch?

that's great

Actually, It's unbelievable.

But if they don't, people would lay out, so they may as well.

I totally agree with it. Lose 4 hours to save the other 8

It's just really expensive and costs a lot more than those 4 hours. But it's also a good will thing, which is also very important

Considering the entire country of Germany shuts down for World Cup games, I can see them getting the importance of this.

You don't work for Leer in the Greenville area do you?

Jan 8, 2016, 8:15 PM

Just stopped by my favorite watering hole and ran into a girl there who told me they were doing that. Just so people would actually show up for work instead of calling out.

No, but they supply BMW too. I think there's quite a few doing it.

Mercedes (in Vance, AL).

I can confirm that the Mercedes assembly plant is shutting down production on second shift Monday night as well. Had not heard about BMW doing the same though.

Crazy, but pretty cool for the employees.
