The committee has become just another poll, subject to the

same biases and media influences as The AP or Coaches poll. They were supposed to be an improvement, more objective by adhering to specific criteria. If you don't believe it, just look, they have the same exact teams ranked in the top 6 as the old polls. They are no better, no more objective; they are exactly the same.

This kind of system is a compromise, and is only acceptable as long as it's the best we can do. I'll be thrilled when people wake up, and realize there is a better way, a process of elimination that rewards winning and acheivement above all else, and does not assume that certain conferences are better than others, and doesn't reward or punish based on conference afilliation. A way where champions are decided entirely on the field, and not in the minds of pundits who are subject to bias. I think the expanded playoff is a huge step in the right direction, but is still not the ultimate answer. I'm not naive, however, and I realize that as long as the powers that be are making money hand over fist with this format, it will not change.

Where do you feel they missed things? I agree it’s a poll but I’d like to hear where you feel they missed.

We all know for a fact they don't know who is best from one

week to the next, so I think we all "miss" by believing that is even possible.

So who should be in the top 4?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There should be more than 4, and all major conference

Dec 4, 2022, 1:44 PM

champions should be included before any non-champions are considered.

in the current system, in the end, what did they miss on? The final poll is the only one that counts

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In the current system, I have no idea what they missed on.

Nobody knows, and never will.

i think 12 is to many

Dec 4, 2022, 1:13 PM

but at least it puts a side some of the bias in that every conferences champ gets in...now its going to be all about the politicking to see how many at larges the sec and big 10 can get in.

Need to urgently go to computers which will take out the dishonesty and bias decisions.

Why not have a system which simply rewards winning

through a process of elimination, and take all opinion and subsequent guessing out of it entirely? That should be the goal.

If the committee matched the polls, this appears to be what happened, no?

Have you seen the computers?

Congrove's is Michigan, UGA, Ohio State, TCU, Alabama, Tennessee, Clemson, Penn State, Utah, and Kansas State. It wouldn't change any of the matchups.

Sagarin is batshit insane. UGA, Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Tennessee, Utah, Penn State, Texas, Kansas State, and TCU.

ESPN's is equally bad. UGA, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Penn State, Clemson, and TCU.

Colley has UGA, Michigan, TCU, Ohio State, USC (yeah, even after the championship), Tennessee, Clemson, Alabama, Kansas State, and Penn State.

Massey has UGA, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, TCU, Penn State, Tennessee, Kansas State, USC, and Penn State.

Rothman is Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, TCU, Alabama, Penn State, Kansas State, Utah, and USC (we're down at 14).

I'll stop since those are the big 6, but some highlights: Logan would have Texas in the playoffs, Boyd has USC, Dokter has Ohio State at #2 and Michigan at home; and ATC's computer is Michigan, UGA, Ohio State, Penn State, Troy, Tulane, Kansas State, UTSA, and Florida State. They have TCU at 11, us at 15, and Alabama at 17.

Computers might be honest, but at best they match the polls. At worst, they are completely incomprehensible trash.

12 teams aren't necessary. 8 teams. The Power 5 champions. The highest ranked G5 team. 2 at large bids, with no more than 2 teams per conference. The committee can seed the teams. So this year we'd have:

UGA vs. Tulane
Michigan vs. Kansas State
TCU vs. Utah
Clemson vs. Ohio State

Good points. So if stubborn Dabo had played Cade last week we would have won. Would we then be in the playoff over OState or TCU?

It’s never going to be perfect, but when conference preference take precedence over winning percentage and strength of schedule, and when just 30% of the top 6 teams in the country are conference champions, there’s a lot of questions to be asked. At the very least, 12 teams would reward every conference champion and most teams with two or less losses playing a difficult schedule. You have to have reward merit hard-won on the field or none of it matters

The drama will not end... it will become the same argument for the 12th and 13th-ranked teams. Conference championships should matter, but the conferences aren't equally distributed. And some conferences have divisions which doesn't guarantee the best two teams from a conference play in the champ. I think the CFP gets it right most of the time. Whatever, right? If every team handles their business, they are in. If you don't, you are subject to subjective criteria for selection.

At the end of the day its a business.... they want teams that will bring the most ad revenue. Remember all those years we jumped better teams to go to the Peach bowl b/c we "traveled" well. It goes both ways. We had the chance to be there, but we lost a couple of games. Move on...

Agreed.

IMO, Conference Championships Matter. Been saying it for several years. Each P5 champion should be in.

I don't buy the arguement of we pick the 4 best teams. And I don't care who they are. I want the best teams on championship weekend. Utah, Kansas State, Clemson, Michigan and Georgia were the best teams this past weekend and won their conference. They should be in. I guess the expanded playoffs will help fix this.

Anyways, ignore me, LOL.
