They are the CDC ... what else do they have to do ??

It's pretty well documented, known, and accepted that

breakthrough infections are common with the delta variant. I don't know why the CDC stopped tracking it, I wasn't even aware of it, as it's so widely reported and tracked by numerous other sources. I know lots of fully vaccinated people who got covid, including my wife and oldest daughter. Wife had a mild cough and fatigue for about 3-4 days, lost her sense of taste for about a week, and that was it. Daughter had a stuffy nose and fatigue for a few days. Everybody I know who was vaxxed and got covid had very mild symptoms and fully recovered quickly. On the other hand, I know quite a few unvaxxed people who died or were in ICU with covid. Right now I have a good friend who was in excellent health, not overweight, no heart/lung issues, no diabetes, etc., who refused the vaccine, got covid, and has been in ICU for 3 weeks and is now on ventilator. Yet I know people who still think it's a plot by the govenment trying to control the citizenry.

xx times more likely to end up in the hospital if you are not vaccinated, where xx is calculated many different ways by many different people.

Bottom line, anybody who is trying to decide whether or not

to get the vaccine should consult a doctor, and not be on Tigernet, or Facebook, or listening to CNN/Fox/best friend/sister/people at work for advice. If they have a family doctor they trust that knows their history, go to them and ignore all else. For people that may not have a regular family doctor, go to a doc-in-a-box and discuss your medical issues and concerns, and get their advice. It's a medical issue that has been politicized. Don't take advice from the politicians who are only in it for their own benefit, or from talking heads and websites who make their living off of politicians and political hyperbole. And sure as hayull don't take advice from people who are getting their advice from any of these sources - GOOD LORD ALMIGHTY! No, find a doctor for medical stuff like vaccines and covid.

The CDC's credibility has definitely taken some hits...

Motives and intentions not withstanding, I believe the Government gave and continues to give (to a large degree) an unrealistic expectation of what the COVID vaccines are truly capable of doing.

Based on Government statements I, like I imagine most non-medical people, assumed the COVID vaccine would eventually wipe out COVID similar to how the Polio and Smallpox vaccines essentially wiped out those diseases in the USA. But as we are seeing - the COVID vaccine was never going to wipe this disease out just as a Flu vaccine will not eradicate the Flu.

Maybe the Government truly thought the vaccines were a COVID eradicator but I tend to think that was never really the scientific truth of it.

The Government should adjust their rhetoric to meet the reality of what the COVID vaccine will do (give you more protection to withstand COVID when, not if, you get it) instead of inferring - "get the vaccine and COVID will end".

As it stands, the breakthrough cases are so common that the Government messaging is not meeting with what people are seeing. This lends to a credibility gap increasing peoples distrust of the Government and the vaccine. All of which is a shame because everything I'm seeing indicates the COVID vaccine really does give people significant protection from the disease when they get it. I firmly believe the Moderna vaccine has significantly lessened the severity of my elderly in-laws and their COVID infections.
