Greatest Chicken Curse moment in history?

Nov 30, 2015, 1:15 AM

Congrats to the team for another great win. Nice to know that even on a rocky day with 3 turnovers we can still whip the dirtpeckers. But it got me thinking, as bad as it is to lose to a team you get three turn on, what is the most heart stabbing curse moment for the coots in their horrible existence.

I have to think having a 96 yard touchdown called back at the very end of the game to keep you from losing to an FCS team might be the greatest curse moment ever. Others?

Most Gamecock fans will probably say two things:

their loss to Navy and the 63-17 beatdown by Clemson.

Then again, the past...what is it? 17 years or so under Holtz and Spurrier, haven't been too particularly kind, for what appeared to be an upward trend of success has turned out to be a wisp in the wind. Maybe, they'll be lucky and bring in a talented coach and staff who immediately focus on recruiting and development of current players, and the one thing they have going for them, admittedly, is the patience of the Gamecock faithful. I mean, they've been waiting for over 100 years....what's another 100 or so?

The curse lifts them with false hope then body slams them. Navy for sure. But Steve Friggin Spurrier and 11 win seasons and whoopin Clemson and they just knew they were on the verge of greatness...then out of the blue Spurrier dumps them mid season because he says losing is not fun and next thing you know they are 3-9 with no players and no recruiting and no coach in sight
