Some interesting parallels but it also puts into perspective that even the last 2 years that we have not made the playoffs, we have been very good and very close.
(Note...obviously this year is not over)..
In 2014, we lost to UGA (10-3), FSU (13-1), and Georgia Tech (11-3). That's a combined record of 34-7 for the 3 teams that beat us (82.9% winning percentage). FSU won the ACC (over Georgia Tech) and played for a national title.
This year, we lost to UGA (12-0), NC State (9-3), and Pitt (10-2). That's a combined record of 31-5 for the 3 teams that beat us (86.1% winning percentage). UGA may well be headed to playing for a national title. Pitt has a chance to win an ACC Championship.
Just shows the amazing run we are in and the coaching/chemistry that we have. Even when we don't make the playoffs, we don't let it be because of bad losses.
thanks.interesting analysis.was thinking earlier, even before last night, that all of this year's losses, all reatively close games, were to ranked teams.somehow that fact and the injuries don't seem to get much consideration from the pollsters or media.
Right self absorbed fans over look this, super proud of how this team has fought. Would’ve been really easy to give up when playoff hopes were lost but they battled the entire way. We will be back next year no doubt about it. Either Cade will light a fire under DJ or Cade will take the job.
